Base Network Outperforms Arbitrum and Ethereum in Transactions and Speed

Apr 07, 2024 at 10:00 pm

Coinbase's scaling solution, Base, outperforms competitors like Arbitrum and Ethereum in key metrics. Base's 30-day transaction volume of 45.21 million surpasses Arbitrum One and Ethereum, while its TVL of $3.89 billion has grown 20% in the past week. Arbitrum Nova remains the leader in 30-day transaction volume, but Base's impressive TPS of 35.16 and 36.12% growth rate indicate its potential for further adoption.

Base Network Outperforms Arbitrum and Ethereum in Transactions and Speed

Base Network Surpasses Arbitrum and Ethereum in Transaction Volume and Performance

Coinbase's layer-two scaling solution, Base, has exhibited superior performance metrics compared to established platforms like Arbitrum and Ethereum, particularly in terms of daily transaction volume.

According to L2Beat data, Base processed a significant volume of 45.21 million transactions over the past 30 days, eclipsing Arbitrum One's 38.58 million and Ethereum's own network's 37.93 million. Arbitrum Nova remains the leader in overall 30-day transactions, with a commanding volume of 81.31 million.

Base's Total Locked Value (TVL), an indicator of assets entrusted to the network, currently stands at $3.89 billion. This amount reflects a notable increase in transaction volume of nearly 20% over the past seven days. In contrast, Arbitrum One experienced a decline in transactions of 4.87%, resulting in a TVL of approximately $18.45 billion. Ethereum's TVL has also witnessed a decline, currently at $40 billion, representing a 4.24% decrease from its value a week ago.

In terms of daily transactions per second (TPS), a measure of network throughput, Base achieved a rate of 35.16 TPS, representing an impressive 36.12% increase. Arbitrum and Ethereum lag behind at 17.80 TPS and 14.38 TPS, respectively. Zora, another prominent layer-two scaling solution, also experienced a significant increase in TPS, registering a remarkable over 700% growth with a TPS of 10.95.

These performance metrics indicate that Base is emerging as a formidable competitor in the layer-two scaling landscape. Its higher transaction volume, low fees, and increased TPS provide a seamless experience for users, making it an attractive option for developers and businesses looking to build decentralized applications.

As the blockchain industry continues to evolve, layer-two solutions like Base play a crucial role in addressing the scalability challenges of base layer protocols. By providing faster transactions, lower costs, and enhanced security, these solutions contribute to the growth and adoption of decentralized technologies across diverse sectors.
