Avalanche (AVAX) Could Be a Key Network to Watch in the Cryptocurrency Sector, IntoTheBlock Explains

Market intelligence platform IntoTheBlock has highlighted key network activity metrics for Avalanche (AVAX) that indicate a potential surge in adoption and engagement.

According to IntoTheBlock, two crucial on-chain metrics to monitor for any cryptocurrency are the Active Addresses and New Addresses.

Active Addresses gauge the total number of AVAX addresses engaging in any transaction activity on the network each day, encompassing both senders and receivers.

This metric essentially indicates the level of traffic that the cryptocurrency is experiencing.

Meanwhile, New Addresses track the daily count of wallets becoming active for the first time, highlighting the entry of new users into the network or the return of those who had previously sold their holdings.

These addresses are generated when new investors join the network or old ones, who had sold earlier, return. They also arise when existing users create new wallets for privacy or reconsolidation purposes.

Typically, spikes in the New Addresses metric can be linked to the net adoption of the cryptocurrency.

IntoTheBlock's analysis reveals that both the New Addresses and Active Addresses for Avalanche have been declining throughout 2024, with a sharp increase in activity beginning in December.

This month, the indicators have seen even larger spikes, suggesting that the adoption of the cryptocurrency is accelerating and investors are becoming increasingly engaged on the network.

The recent highs in the indicator are not only higher compared to last year but also exceed the peak of the 2021 bull market.

According to IntoTheBlock, this positions the AVAX network as a key one to watch, should more users enter the crypto market.

Historically, adoption has been a positive factor for cryptocurrencies, although its effects may only become apparent in the long term.

On the other hand, high activity is usually reflected immediately, as a large number of users making moves provides the ideal environment for volatile price action. However, such volatility is not necessarily bullish.

At the time of writing, Avalanche is trading at around $40, up more than 8% over the last seven days.
