Unai Emery’s Aston Villa were only seconds away from leaving the Parc des Princess with a 2-1 defeat and a real chance of progressing to the semi-final of the Champions League.

As for Villa, they are seventh in the Premier League table with 54 points. They are on a four-match winning streak in the league and have won eight of their last nine in all competitions.
