Aptos (APT) Layer-1 Blockchain Integrates Stripe Payment Services and USDC Stablecoin

Nov 23, 2024 at 09:00 am

Layer-1 blockchain Aptos (APT) has announced a plan to integrate fintech giant Stripe's payment services and the stablecoin USDC.

Aptos (APT) Layer-1 Blockchain Integrates Stripe Payment Services and USDC Stablecoin

Stripe’s payment services will provide a fiat on-ramp for the Aptos (APT) network, according to a new press release from the layer-1 project.

The integration will allow users to easily purchase cryptocurrencies with fiat using Stripe’s payment gateway, which will then be credited to their Aptos wallets.

To begin with, the integration will support purchases made using USDC, the dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Circle. However, Aptos said it plans to add support for other crypto assets in the future.

“We’re excited to work with Stripe to integrate their payment services and USDC into the Aptos network,” said Aptos co-founder and CEO Avery Ching.

“This integration will make it easier for users to onboard into the Aptos ecosystem and will help to drive the adoption of Web3 technologies.”

Stripe’s payment services are used by a wide range of businesses, including e-commerce platforms, marketplaces, and SAAS providers. The integration with Aptos will give these businesses the ability to offer their customers the option to pay for goods and services using cryptocurrencies.

The integration with Aptos is the latest in a series of moves by Stripe to embrace cryptocurrencies. In March, the company announced that it would begin allowing users to withdraw funds from Stripe Balance in USDC.

Aptos is a layer-1 blockchain that was launched in October 2022. The blockchain is designed to be scalable, secure, and easy to use. Aptos has attracted a lot of attention from the crypto community, and its native token, APT, is currently ranked 27th by market cap.

APT is trading at $11.98 at time of writing. The token has seen a recent surge in price, likely driven by the news of the Stripe integration. However, APT is still down significantly from its all-time high of $19.92, which it set in January 2023.
