How to Add Scroll L2 Network to MetaMask Wallet
Sep 10, 2024 at 05:05 pm

Scroll is an EVM-equivalent Layer 2 scaling solution for the Ethereum blockchain. It utilizes the zero knowledge (ZK) rollup technology to submit data of transactions performed on its execution environment to the main chain. Scroll is compatible with EVM wallets like MetaMask, enabling users to connect to the network and manage their assets by adding it to their MetaMask wallet.
In this article, we will be discussing how to add Scroll to MetaMask wallet through different methods. Before proceeding, ensure that you have created a MetaMask wallet and have it funded with some ETH for gas fees.
Method 1: Adding Scroll to MetaMask Through Scroll.io
You can import Scroll to your MetaMask through the official Scroll network website. Here's how to do it:
1. Visit the Scroll website.
2. Click Connect Wallet from the top right corner to proceed.
3. Select your wallet application and follow the prompts to connect your wallet to the platform.
4. Click the network icon on the top right corner beside your wallet address.
5. Select Scroll from the options to continue.
6. A prompt requesting to add scroll to your wallet pops up; review the prompt to add Scroll to your MetaMask wallet and approve to complete
Once approved, the Scroll network will be automatically added to the list of networks in your wallet.
Method 2: Adding Scroll to MetaMask With RPC Details
You can also add Scroll to your MetaMask wallet manually using the network’s RPC details. Here are the steps:
1. Open your MetaMask wallet and click on the network area in the top left corner.
2. Select Add Network to proceed.
3. On the next page click Add more networks manually from the text box on the top of your screen.
4. On the page that follows, enter the Scroll network details accordingly:
Network name: Scroll
Network URL: https://rpc.scroll.io
Chain ID: 534352
Currency symbol: ETH
Block explorer URL: https://scrollscan.com
5. Review your entries and click Save to complete.
Scroll network is now added to your wallet and you can switch to Scroll by clicking Switch to Scroll on the dialogue box that pops up.
Method 3: Adding Scroll to MetaMask With ChainList
Another way to add Scroll to your MetaMask wallet is via Chainlist. Chainlist is a collection of EVM networks that allows users to add supported networks to their wallets in a few clicks. Here's how to do it:
1. Visit the Chainlist website.
2. Click Connect Wallet from the top right corner and follow the prompt to connect your wallet to the platform.
3. Search for ‘Scroll’ using the search box at the top corner of the platform.
4. Review search results and select the result with the correct details of Scroll Network (Chain ID: 534352).
5. Click Add to MetaMask to proceed.
6. Approve the request to add Scroll network from the prompt on your wallet.
Once approved, the network will be automatically added to the network list in your MetaMask wallet.
Method 4: Adding Scroll to MetaMask With Scrollscan
You can also add Scroll to your MetaMask wallet using Scrollscan – the official explorer of the Scroll network. Here's how to do it:
1. Visit Scrollscan.
2. Scroll to the footer area.
3. Click Add Scroll Network from the bottom left corner.
4. Follow the prompt on your wallet and approve the request to add the network.
Once approved, Scroll will be automatically added to the network list in your MetaMask wallet.
Final Thoughts
Using the methods discussed in this article, you can now add the Scroll Layer 2 network to your MetaMask wallet and access the network and the decentralized applications in its ecosystem. With the Scroll mainnet now live and their loyalty progam, Scroll Sessions, launched, users can earn Scroll Marks, that may potentially result in a future Scroll airdrop.
