What is the consensus mechanism of Ski Mask Dog (SKI)?
Ski Mask Dog (SKI) relies on the decentralized proof-of-work consensus mechanism to validate transactions and maintain network security, requiring miners to solve mathematical puzzles to add new blocks to the blockchain.
Dec 03, 2024 at 07:10 am
Ski Mask Dog (SKI) utilizes a proof-of-work (PoW) consensus mechanism to secure its network and validate transactions. PoW is a decentralized consensus algorithm that requires miners to solve complex mathematical problems to add new blocks to the blockchain. The miner who successfully solves the problem first receives a block reward in the form of SKI tokens.
How Does PoW Work in SKI?- Transaction Pool: New transactions are broadcast to the network and collected in a transaction pool.
- Block Creation: Miners collect a set of transactions from the pool and package them into a block. The block also includes a hash of the previous block, ensuring immutability and chronological order.
- Solving the Puzzle: Miners use specialized hardware to attempt to solve a complex mathematical problem called a hash function. The goal is to find a nonce (a random number) that, when combined with the block data, produces a hash that meets specific requirements.
- Block Validation: Once a miner solves the puzzle, they broadcast the block to the network. Other nodes verify that the block is valid by checking the hash and ensuring that all transactions have been authorized.
- Consensus: If a majority (usually over 51%) of the network nodes validate the block, it is added to the blockchain, and the miner receives the block reward.
- Decentralization: PoW is a decentralized consensus mechanism, meaning that no single entity has control over the network.
- Security: The computational difficulty of solving the mathematical problem makes it difficult for malicious actors to gain control of the blockchain.
- Immutability: Once a block is added to the blockchain, it is extremely difficult to alter or remove it due to the cryptographic linking of blocks.
- Energy Consumption: PoW is an energy-intensive process due to the extensive computational power required to solve the mathematical problems.
- Scalability: PoW can have scalability issues as the network grows and the computational complexity of the problems increases.
- Centralization: Despite being decentralized in theory, large-scale mining operations with specialized hardware can result in the centralization of mining power.
