How to track your crypto profit/loss in Exodus? (Portfolio Analytics)
Exodus offers a real-time portfolio dashboard with live pricing, per-asset P/L, tax-ready exports, on-chain transaction tracking, and client-side analytics—all while keeping private keys and data securely on your device.
Apr 15, 2026 at 01:19 am
Portfolio Overview Dashboard
1. Upon launching Exodus, the main interface displays a real-time portfolio valuation in your selected fiat currency—USD, EUR, GBP, or others.
2. The top section shows total balance, 24-hour change percentage, and absolute gain/loss value—calculated automatically using live market prices.
3. Below, each asset appears as a tile with individual holdings, current price, 24-hour performance, and percentage change—updated every 30 seconds without manual refresh.
4. Hovering over any asset tile reveals acquisition date, average buy price, and unrealized P/L—computed from historical transaction imports or manual entry via CSV.
5. Clicking an asset opens its dedicated page where cumulative profit/loss is broken down by wallet address, transaction type, and time horizon (7-day, 30-day, all-time).
Transaction History Integration
1. Exodus pulls all on-chain activity directly from public blockchain explorers—no third-party API dependency for BTC, ETH, SOL, TRX, XRP, and over 100 other supported chains.
2. Each sent/received transaction includes timestamp, fee amount, net value transferred, and inferred cost basis if prior buys exist in the same wallet.
3. Internal transfers between Exodus wallets are flagged as non-taxable events and excluded from P/L calculations unless manually reclassified.
4. Imported transactions from external wallets via CSV retain original timestamps and amounts—Exodus applies FIFO accounting by default unless user selects LIFO or average cost basis in settings.
5. Failed or dropped transactions appear grayed out with zero impact on balance or profit metrics—visible only in raw history view.
Fiat Conversion & Historical Pricing
1. Exchange rates for all fiat pairs are sourced from CoinGecko’s verified node—no caching beyond 60 seconds to ensure precision.
2. Historical price data for assets is retrieved from on-chain oracles for Ethereum-based tokens and from native block headers for Bitcoin and Ripple.
3. When viewing P/L over custom date ranges, Exodus interpolates missing price points using linear interpolation between known anchor values—not extrapolation.
4. Manual fiat price overrides are permitted per transaction—useful when purchasing crypto via peer-to-peer channels at non-market rates.
5. Currency conversion fees applied during direct purchases (e.g., via Apple Pay or credit card) are added to acquisition cost and reflected in unrealized loss calculations.
Export & Tax Reporting Tools
1. One-click CSV export includes columns for date, asset symbol, type (buy/sell/transfer/stake), quantity, fiat amount, fee, and calculated P/L—formatted for TurboTax Crypto and Koinly compatibility.
2. Capital gains reports separate short-term and long-term positions based on holding period thresholds defined by local jurisdiction—US IRS, HMRC, ATO rules preloaded.
3. Staking rewards are auto-flagged as income events with fair market value at receipt time—displayed separately from trading P/L in the analytics tab.
4. Multi-wallet consolidation is supported: users can link multiple Exodus wallets under one profile to generate unified portfolio analytics across devices and platforms.
5. No data leaves the device during report generation—exports are generated client-side using WebAssembly modules; no server-side processing occurs.
Common Questions & Direct Answers
Q1: Does Exodus calculate realized vs. unrealized profit separately?Yes. Realized profit appears only after a sell or swap event closes a position. Unrealized values update continuously based on live pricing and open balances.
Q2: Can I adjust cost basis for assets acquired before importing into Exodus?Yes. Navigate to Asset > Edit Transactions > Add Manual Entry to input historical purchase details including date, price, and quantity.
Q3: Why does my P/L show zero after staking rewards?Staking rewards are treated as taxable income upon receipt—not as capital gains. They increase your total portfolio value but do not trigger P/L until you sell the newly minted tokens.
Q4: Is portfolio analytics available offline? No. Live pricing, blockchain confirmations, and exchange rate feeds require active internet connectivity. Historical snapshots remain accessible in cached views.
