How to Send BTC with Phantom Wallet? How to Transfer Bitcoin Assets to Another Wallet?

Phantom Wallet added native Bitcoin support in 2025 via Stacks and sBTC—enabling sBTC transfers, swaps, and DApp use on Stacks, but not direct BTC mainnet transactions, Ordinals, or BRC-20 tokens.

Bitcoin Integration in Phantom Wallet

1. Phantom Wallet added native Bitcoin support in early 2025 through its integration with the Stacks blockchain and sBTC (wrapped Bitcoin) protocol.

2. Users cannot send native BTC directly on the Bitcoin mainnet via Phantom; instead, they interact with sBTC, a 1:1 pegged token backed by real BTC and secured via Stacks’ Proof-of-Transfer mechanism.

3. The wallet interface displays BTC balances only after users have bridged assets from Bitcoin to Stacks or received sBTC from external sources.

4. Phantom’s Bitcoin-related functionality is limited to sBTC transfers, swaps, and DApp interactions—no UTXO-level control or direct mempool broadcasting is available.

5. All sBTC transactions appear on-chain via the Stacks network, visible on explorer.stacks.co, not blockchain.com or other Bitcoin explorers.

Step-by-Step sBTC Transfer Process

1. Open Phantom Wallet and ensure you are on the Stacks network tab—not Solana or Ethereum.

2. Locate your sBTC balance under the asset list; if zero, you must first bridge BTC using Hiro Wallet or another Stacks-compatible bridge.

3. Click “Send” next to the sBTC entry, then paste the recipient’s Stacks address (starts with ‘ST’).

4. Enter the amount, review gas fees denominated in STX, and confirm using your device’s biometric authentication or password.

5. Transaction finality occurs within ~10 seconds on Stacks, and the recipient sees sBTC credited immediately upon block confirmation.

Security Considerations for Bitcoin-Related Operations

1. Never enter your Phantom seed phrase on any website—even if it claims to be a BTC bridge or faucet.

2. Phantom does not support hardware wallet signing for sBTC transactions; all approvals happen within the software wallet environment.

3. Phishing domains mimicking Hiro or Stacks bridges have increased significantly since Q2 2026; always verify URLs manually before connecting.

4. sBTC is not insured or custodied; loss of private key or accidental send to invalid ST-address results in irreversible loss.

5. Phantom’s built-in swap engine does not offer BTC-to-ETH or BTC-to-SOL conversions; such trades require external DEXs like Alex or ALEX Lab.

Compatibility Limitations

1. Phantom does not recognize or display balances from Taproot-enabled Bitcoin wallets unless those funds have been converted to sBTC via official Stacks bridges.

2. Multisig Bitcoin addresses, Lightning Network channels, or P2SH-wrapped scripts are unsupported and will not appear in the wallet interface.

3. No support exists for importing BIP-39 phrases generated by Bitcoin-only wallets like Electrum or Sparrow into Phantom.

4. Transaction history filtering excludes raw Bitcoin blocks; only Stacks-layer sBTC movements are logged and searchable.

5. Phantom’s mobile app disables sBTC functionality when location services detect jurisdictions where Stacks-based tokens are restricted by local regulators.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Can I withdraw sBTC back to native Bitcoin?Yes—but only through authorized Stacks bridges such as Hiro’s official portal. Phantom itself does not host withdrawal logic or custody BTC reserves.

Q2: Why does my BTC balance show zero even after depositing to a Stacks address?Phantom only displays sBTC held in addresses derived from its own keypair. Deposits to externally generated Stacks addresses won’t auto-sync without manual import.

Q3: Does Phantom support Ordinals or BRC-20 tokens? No. Phantom treats Bitcoin as a settlement layer only via Stacks integration. Ordinals and BRC-20 operate exclusively on Bitcoin L1 and remain invisible to Phantom.

Q4: Is there a minimum sBTC transfer amount enforced by Phantom?Phantom enforces no minimum, but Stacks network requires at least 0.000001 sBTC to cover base transaction fees and prevent dust spam.
