How to receive Ethereum (ETH) in your Exodus wallet?
To receive ETH in Exodus, open the app, select ETH, tap “Receive,” verify the 0x-prefixed address and QR code, and share only that public address—never your private key or recovery phrase.
Dec 28, 2025 at 01:39 pm
Accessing Your ETH Receive Address
1. Open the Exodus desktop or mobile application and ensure you are logged into your wallet.
2. Navigate to the Ethereum (ETH) asset tile on your dashboard or in the asset list.
3. Click or tap the Receive button located beneath the ETH balance.
4. A QR code and a corresponding alphanumeric Ethereum address will appear on screen.
5. Verify the displayed address matches your expectations by cross-checking the first and last six characters with a previously recorded address if available.
Understanding ETH Address Format and Compatibility
1. Every Ethereum address begins with 0x, followed by exactly 40 hexadecimal characters.
2. Exodus generates standard ERC-20 compatible addresses, meaning it supports receiving not only ETH but also tokens built on the Ethereum network.
3. Addresses generated in Exodus are case-insensitive, though they are conventionally displayed in mixed-case using EIP-55 checksum encoding for visual integrity.
4. Do not confuse an ETH address with a Bitcoin or Solana address — sending ETH to a non-Ethereum chain address will result in permanent loss.
5. Exodus does not support legacy formats such as ICAP or non-hexadecimal identifiers; only canonical 0x-prefixed addresses are valid.
Security Practices During ETH Reception
1. Never share your private key or recovery phrase when receiving ETH — only the public address is required.
2. Avoid copying addresses from untrusted websites or messages; always retrieve them directly from the Exodus interface.
3. Confirm the transaction details on-chain using a block explorer like Etherscan before considering the transfer complete.
4. Disable clipboard monitoring tools or browser extensions that may intercept copied addresses during the paste operation.
5. Double-check the destination address before confirming any external send — Exodus cannot reverse or recover misdirected funds.
Transaction Confirmation and On-Chain Visibility
1. After ETH is sent to your Exodus address, it may take several seconds to minutes before appearing in your wallet balance.
2. The transaction must be included in at least one Ethereum block before Exodus registers it as confirmed.
3. Exodus displays incoming transactions under the Activity tab once they are detected by its backend indexing service.
4. If ETH does not appear after 15 minutes, verify the sender’s transaction hash on Etherscan to confirm successful broadcast and inclusion.
5. Pending transactions remain visible in Exodus as “Unconfirmed” until mined — no action is needed from the receiver during this phase.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I receive ETH while my Exodus wallet is offline?A: Yes. Ethereum addresses are public identifiers tied to the blockchain, not dependent on device connectivity. Funds arrive regardless of whether Exodus is open or running.
Q: What happens if I send ETH to an old Exodus address after reinstalling the app?A: All addresses derived from your original 12-word recovery phrase remain accessible. Any ETH sent to those addresses will appear once you restore the wallet with the same phrase.
Q: Does Exodus support receiving ETH on Layer 2 networks like Arbitrum or Optimism?A: No. The native ETH asset in Exodus operates exclusively on the Ethereum mainnet. Deposits to L2 addresses will not be recognized or credited.
Q: Why does my received ETH show zero confirmations for an extended period?A: This usually indicates the sender’s transaction has not yet been included in a block — check the transaction status on Etherscan using the provided hash.
