How do Gate.io users use Web3 wallets?
- Install a Web3 wallet. There are many different Web3 wallets available, depending on your needs. We recommend MetaMask for beginners and experienced users.
- Create a new wallet. When used for the first time, most Web3 wallets require you to create a new wallet. Gate.io has built-in Web3 wallets on mobile, so users don't need to separately set up Web3 wallets.
- Fund your wallet with MATIC. Most Web3 wallets require some balance before you can start using them. You can fund your wallet with MATIC by clicking "Deposit" on your BTC or USDT asset page and selecting the network as Matic Mainnet.
- Connect your wallet to Gate.io. Once you have a Web3 wallet, you can connect it to Gate.io. To do this, click on the "Wallet" tab in the top navigation bar and select "Web3 Wallet" from the dropdown menu. Then, click on the "Connect Wallet" button and follow the instructions on the screen, remember to select Metamask or Wallet Connect as needed.
- Start using the Web3 wallet. Once your wallet is connected, you can start using it to interact with Web3 applications on the network. This includes sending and receiving funds, interacting with smart contracts, and much more.
- Unlink your wallet. To unlink your Web3 wallet from Gate.io, click on the "Wallet" tab in the top navigation bar and select "Web3 Wallet" from the dropdown menu. Then, click on the "Unlink Wallet" button and confirm your choice.
- Keep your private key safe. Your private key is what gives you access to your funds, so it's important to keep it safe. Never share your private key with anyone.
- Use a strong password. Your password is the first line of defense against unauthorized access to your wallet. Use a strong password that is at least 12 characters long and includes a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Back up your wallet. In the event that your computer or phone is lost or stolen, you'll be able to recover your funds if you have a backup of your wallet. There are many different ways to back up your wallet, so choose one that is convenient for you.
- Be aware of phishing scams. Phishing scams are designed to trick you into giving up your private key or password. Never click on links in emails or text messages from unknown senders, and never enter your private key or password on a website that you don't trust.
The specific method of use is as follows:
- Click the “Web3 Wallet” button in the upper right corner of the homepage, select the Web3 wallet plug-in you want to connect, and click the “Connect” button. Follow the steps given by the plug-in to complete the connection.
- After the connection is successful, the "Connected" status will be displayed, and the connected wallet address will be displayed below. You can use this wallet address to receive assets on Gate.io.
- If you need to disconnect the Web3 wallet, click the "Disconnect" button. After the disconnection is successful, the connection status will be displayed as "Not connected".
