how to connect metamask with ganache
By connecting MetaMask to Ganache, developers can test and develop Ethereum-based decentralized applications (dApps) in a safe and secure environment without exposing them to the public blockchain.
Nov 14, 2024 at 03:08 pm
MetaMask is a popular cryptocurrency wallet that allows users to interact with decentralized applications (dApps) and store their digital assets. Ganache is a local Ethereum blockchain that developers use to test and develop dApps. Connecting MetaMask to Ganache allows developers to access the Ganache blockchain and test their dApps without exposing them to the public blockchain. This guide will provide a step-by-step tutorial on how to connect MetaMask to Ganache.
Prerequisites:- MetaMask browser extension installed
- Ganache software installed
- Start Ganache:
Launch the Ganache software and create a new workspace. Configure the blockchain settings as needed, such as the number of accounts and the initial balance.
- Open MetaMask:
Open the MetaMask browser extension and click on the circle icon in the top-right corner. Select "Connect to a network" from the drop-down menu.
- Add Custom RPC:
Click on "Add a network" and enter the following details:
- Network Name: Ganache
- New RPC URL: http://127.0.0.1:7545 (default Ganache RPC port)
- Chain ID: 1337 (default Ganache chain ID)
- Currency Symbol: ETH
- Block Explorer URL (optional): Leave empty
- Select Ganache Network:
Once the custom RPC is added, select the "Ganache" network from the list of available networks in MetaMask. MetaMask will now be connected to the Ganache blockchain.
- Transfer Ether to MetaMask Accounts:
To interact with dApps on Ganache, you need to transfer Ether (ETH) to the MetaMask accounts. Click on the "Send" button in Ganache and send ETH to the MetaMask wallet addresses. The ETH will be instantly available in the MetaMask accounts.
- Interact with DApps on Ganache:
You can now interact with dApps on the Ganache blockchain through MetaMask. To do this, open a dApp in your browser and connect your MetaMask wallet. You will be able to use your MetaMask account to interact with the dApp, such as making transactions or interacting with smart contracts.
- Disconnect MetaMask from Ganache:
To disconnect MetaMask from Ganache, simply switch the network in MetaMask to a different network, such as the Main Ethereum Network or a testnet. MetaMask will no longer be connected to the Ganache blockchain.
