How to configure MetaMask for Fuel Network? (Modular Execution)
To use Fuel Network with MetaMask, manually add RPC URL `https://rpc.fuel.network/v1/graphql`, chain ID `270`, and symbol `FUEL`—then bridge assets via `bridge.fuel.network`.

Understanding Fuel Network Integration
1. Fuel Network is a high-throughput, low-latency modular execution layer built for Ethereum scalability. It separates consensus from execution, enabling parallel transaction processing and deterministic state transitions.
2. MetaMask does not natively support Fuel Network out of the box. Configuration requires manual RPC endpoint addition and chain identifier registration via custom network settings.
3. Fuel uses a unique account abstraction model where Ethereum addresses are mapped to Fuel’s UTXO-based state system. This mapping is handled by the Fuel Wallet SDK and verified through on-chain bridges.
4. The Fuel chain ID is 270, distinct from Ethereum mainnet (1) or Arbitrum (42161). Using an incorrect chain ID will prevent signature validation and asset bridging.
5. Fuel’s native token is FUEL, used for gas payments and governance participation. It is not pre-deployed on Ethereum — users must bridge ETH or other ERC-20 tokens using the official Fuel Bridge before interacting with dApps.
Adding Fuel Network to MetaMask
1. Open MetaMask and click the network selector dropdown in the top-right corner.
2. Select “Add network” → “Add a network manually”.
3. Enter the following parameters:Network name: Fuel NetworkNew RPC URL: https://rpc.fuel.network/v1/graphqlChain ID: 270Currency symbol: FUELBlock explorer URL: https://fuellabs.github.io/block-explorer-v2/
4. Click “Save”. MetaMask will validate the RPC endpoint and confirm connectivity status.
5. After saving, switch to the newly added Fuel Network. MetaMask will display “Fuel Network” in the network selector and show FUEL as the balance unit — though balances remain zero until bridged.
Account Mapping and Signature Handling
1. Fuel does not use ECDSA signatures directly on-chain. Instead, it relies on predicate-based verification where Ethereum private keys authorize transactions via off-chain proofs.
2. When signing a transaction in MetaMask while connected to Fuel, the wallet generates a serialized signature that is passed to the Fuel Provider for proof generation.
3. The Fuel Provider (e.g., @fuel-ts/wallet) interprets the MetaMask signature and constructs a valid Fuel transaction with witness data.
4. MetaMask’s signature dialog may show “Sign this message to access your Fuel account” — this is not a standard EIP-191 message but a Fuel-specific authorization payload.
5. Reusing the same Ethereum private key across Ethereum and Fuel does not imply automatic balance mirroring. Asset ownership is enforced solely through bridge contracts and finalized proofs.
Bridging Assets to Fuel
1. Navigate to the official Fuel Bridge at https://bridge.fuel.network while connected to Ethereum mainnet in MetaMask.
2. Connect the same MetaMask wallet used for Fuel configuration. The bridge reads your Ethereum address and maps it to a corresponding Fuel UTXO address.
3. Select ETH or supported ERC-20 tokens, enter amount, and initiate deposit. A Layer 1 transaction is submitted and confirmed on Ethereum.
4. After finality (~15–30 minutes), the bridge relays the deposit proof to Fuel. Your FUEL balance updates automatically upon proof verification.
5. Withdrawals follow the reverse flow: initiate from Fuel, wait for L1 confirmation, then claim on Ethereum. MetaMask must be switched back to Ethereum mainnet to receive funds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use MetaMask Snap to interact with Fuel without manual RPC setup?A: As of April 2026, no official Fuel Snap exists in the MetaMask Snap store. Manual RPC configuration remains the only supported method for direct integration.
Q: Why does MetaMask show “0 FUEL” even after successful bridge deposit?A: This occurs when the Fuel node has not yet indexed the deposit proof. Refresh the Fuel Network connection or check block explorer status at https://fuellabs.github.io/block-explorer-v2/.
Q: Is it safe to import my Ethereum seed phrase into a Fuel-native wallet like Radium?A: No. Radium and similar Fuel-native wallets derive keys differently. Importing an Ethereum seed phrase may generate unrelated Fuel addresses. Always use bridge-mapped accounts instead.
Q: Does MetaMask support Fuel’s predicate scripting language?A: MetaMask does not interpret or compile Fuel predicates. Predicate logic must be pre-compiled and embedded in transaction payloads via external tooling like forc or fuel-core.
