How to Add zkSync Lite to MetaMask: A Comprehensive Guide
Introduction
zkSync Lite is a Layer 2 scaling solution for the Ethereum blockchain, designed to enhance transaction speed and reduce gas fees. By integrating zkSync Lite with MetaMask, you can seamlessly access this high-performance network and enjoy its benefits. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough of the process, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free integration experience.
Step 1: Set Up MetaMask
- Install the MetaMask browser extension or mobile app.
- Create a new MetaMask wallet or import an existing one.
- Ensure that you have some ETH in your MetaMask wallet to cover gas fees.
Step 2: Connect to the zkSync Testnet (Optional)
If you prefer to test the integration before using the mainnet, you can switch to the zkSync testnet.
- In MetaMask, click on "Settings" > "Networks" > "Add Network."
Enter the following network details:
- Network Name: zkSync Testnet
- RPC URL: https://zksync2-testnet.zksync.dev
- Chain ID: 280
- Currency Symbol: ZKST
- Block Explorer URL: https://zksync2-testnet.zksync.dev/blocks
Step 3: Add zkSync Lite Network to MetaMask
- Click on the "Networks" tab in MetaMask.
Click on "Add Network" and enter the following network details:
- Network Name: zkSync Lite Mainnet
- RPC URL: https://zksync2.zksync.dev
- Chain ID: 31337
- Currency Symbol: ETH
- Block Explorer URL: https://explorer.zksync.io
Step 4: Transfer ETH to zkSync Lite
- Click on the "Assets" tab in MetaMask and select "ETH."
- Click on "Send" and choose the address you want to transfer ETH to.
- Select "zkSync Lite Mainnet" as the network.
- Enter the amount you want to transfer and click "Next."
- Review the transaction details and click "Confirm."
Step 5: Interact with zkSync Lite dApps (Optional)
Once your ETH is deposited in zkSync Lite, you can start interacting with compatible decentralized applications (dApps).
- In MetaMask, click on the "Discover" tab to find zkSync Lite-compatible dApps.
- Select a dApp and click "Connect."
- Follow the dApp's instructions to complete the connection process.
Troubleshooting
- If you encounter an error while adding the zkSync Lite network, ensure that you have entered the network details correctly.
- If you have insufficient ETH to cover gas fees, you can purchase ETH on a centralized exchange and transfer it to your MetaMask wallet.
- If MetaMask does not detect your zkSync Lite account balance, try manually adding the ZKS token contract address: 0xeD1c13a5B81aC4Be67E5BDFA756c99b6e56A8014
