how to add ripple network to metamask
By adding the Ripple Network to Metamask, users can seamlessly manage and transact their XRP cryptocurrency within the popular crypto wallet's ecosystem.
Nov 12, 2024 at 10:40 am
The Ripple Network is a blockchain-based payment and settlement network that has gained popularity due to its fast and low-cost transactions. Metamask is a popular crypto wallet that supports multiple blockchains, but it does not have built-in support for the Ripple Network. However, it is possible to add support for the Ripple Network to Metamask using a custom RPC endpoint. Here are the steps on how to do it:
1. Install Metamask- If you don't already have Metamask installed, visit the Metamask website and follow the instructions to install the extension for your browser.
- Go to the Ripple website and create a Ripple account. You will need to provide an email address and create a password.
- Go to the Ripple API documentation website.
- Under the "Setup" tab, click on "Endpoints".
- Copy the "Default" RPC endpoint URL.
- Open Metamask and click on the "Settings" icon.
- Click on the "Networks" tab.
- Click on the "Add Network" button.
Enter the following information:
- Network Name: Ripple Network
- New RPC URL: Paste the Ripple RPC endpoint URL that you copied in step 3.
- Chain ID: 56920
- Currency Symbol: XRP
- Block Explorer URL: https://xrpscan.com/
- Click on the "Save" button.
- Go to the Ripple website and log in to your account.
- Click on the "Profile" icon and then select "API Credentials".
- Copy the "API Secret" value.
- Go back to Metamask and click on the "Import Account" button.
- Select "Private Key".
- Paste the API Secret value into the "Private Key" field.
- Click on the "Import" button.
You have now successfully added the Ripple Network to Metamask and imported your Ripple account. You can now send and receive XRP using Metamask.
Additional Notes:- The Ripple RPC endpoint URL may change in the future. If this happens, you will need to update the RPC URL in Metamask.
- You can add multiple Ripple accounts to Metamask by repeating the import process for each account.
- Metamask does not currently support the Ripple Network's native token, XRP. However, there are plans to add support for XRP in the future.
