How to add the Optimistic Rollups mainnet to MetaMask.
By effortlessly adding the Optimistic Rollups mainnet to MetaMask, users empower their decentralized application experiences with enhanced speed and reduced transaction costs.
Nov 27, 2024 at 11:58 pm
IntroductionOptimistic Rollups is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum that uses optimistic rollups to improve transaction speed and reduce gas fees. By adding the Optimistic Rollups mainnet to MetaMask, you can interact with decentralized applications (dApps) built on the Optimistic Rollups network. This guide will provide a step-by-step walkthrough on how to add the Optimistic Rollups mainnet to your MetaMask wallet.
Step 1: Install MetaMask- If you haven't already, download and install MetaMask on your preferred device (desktop or mobile).
- Create a new wallet or import an existing one if you have one.
- Click on the "Networks" tab in MetaMask.
- Click on the "Add Network" button.
Enter the following network details:
- Network name: Optimistic Rollups
- RPC URL: https://mainnet.optimism.io
- Chain ID: 10
- Currency symbol: ETH
- Block explorer URL: https://optimistic.etherscan.io
- Click on the "Save" button.
- Once the Optimistic Rollups network is added, you need to add OVM tokens to view your balance and interact with dApps.
- Click on the "Tokens" tab in MetaMask.
- Click on the "Add Token" button.
- Search for the tokens you want to add, e.g., ETH, USDT, or USDC.
- Click on the "Add" button next to the token you want to add.
- If you don't have any assets on the Optimistic Rollups network, you need to bridge them from the Ethereum mainnet.
- You can use bridges like Hop Protocol or xPollinate to transfer your assets from Ethereum to Optimistic Rollups.
- Follow the instructions provided by the bridge service to complete the bridging process.
- Once you have added the Optimistic Rollups network and tokens, you can now interact with dApps built on the Optimistic Rollups network.
- Visit the dApp's website and connect your MetaMask wallet by selecting "Optimistic Rollups" as the network.
- The Optimistic Rollups network is still in development, and there may be some limitations or issues that you encounter.
- Always ensure you are using the official MetaMask wallet and do not share your private keys with anyone.
- Be aware of potential scams or phishing attempts when using the Optimistic Rollups network.
