How to Add Ontology Mainnet (ONT) to MetaMask
Introduction
MetaMask is a popular cryptocurrency wallet and dApp browser that allows users to interact with the Ethereum blockchain and various other blockchains. Ontology is a high-performance public blockchain and distributed network that aims to provide trust, collaboration, and scalability for businesses and developers. By adding Ontology Mainnet to MetaMask, users can access and manage their ONT tokens, interact with Ontology-based dApps, and participate in the Ontology ecosystem.
Step 1: Install MetaMask
- Visit the official MetaMask website (https://metamask.io/) and click on the "Download" button.
- Choose the appropriate version of MetaMask for your browser or device and install it.
- Create a new MetaMask wallet or import an existing one using the seed phrase.
Step 2: Add Ontology Mainnet Network
- Open MetaMask and click on the "Networks" tab in the top-right corner.

Enter the following network details:
- Network Name: Ontology Mainnet
- New RPC URL: https://rpc.ontology.io
- Chain ID: 1024
- Currency Symbol: ONT
- Block Explorer URL: https://explorer.ont.io
Step 3: Add ONT Token
- Click on the "Assets" tab in MetaMask.
- Click on the "Import Tokens" button.
- Enter the ONT token contract address: 0x8888888888888888888888888888888888888888
- Click on the "Add Custom Token" button.
Step 4: Verify Token Addition
- The ONT token should now appear in your MetaMask wallet under the "Assets" tab.
- You can verify the token addition by comparing the ONT token balance in MetaMask with the balance on the Ontology explorer (https://explorer.ont.io).
Step 5: Interact with Ontology dApps
- With ONT tokens added to your MetaMask wallet, you can now interact with Ontology-based dApps.
- To interact with dApps, connect your MetaMask wallet to the dApp's website or interface.
- The dApp will request permission to access your ONT tokens and you can confirm the request to interact with the dApp.
