How to Add Obyte Mainnet (BYTE) to MetaMask

MetaMask is one of the most popular software cryptocurrency wallets. BYTE is the native cryptocurrency of the Obyte blockchain. To interact with the Obyte ecosystem through MetaMask, you will need to add Obyte Mainnet to your wallet. Here's a step-by-step guide:

1. Install MetaMask:

• Visit the MetaMask website (https://metamask.io/) and click "Download."
• Select your preferred browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, or Edge) and click "Install MetaMask for [browser]."
• Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

2. Create a MetaMask Account:

• Open MetaMask and click "Create a Wallet."
• Set a strong password and click "Create."
• Store your Secret Recovery Phrase in a secure location.

3. Add Obyte Mainnet to MetaMask:

• Click the "Ethereum Mainnet" network selector in the top right corner.
• Scroll down and click "Add Network."

• Enter the following details:

  • Network Name: Obyte Mainnet
  • New RPC URL: https://obyte.org/api/v2
  • Chain ID: 1
  • Currency Symbol: BYTE
  • Block Explorer URL: https://explorer.obyte.org/
• Click "Save."

4. Import BYTE Tokens (Optional):

• If you hold BYTE tokens on another wallet, you can import them into MetaMask.
• Click "Import Tokens."
• Search for "Obyte" or "BYTE."
• Select "Obyte" and click "Add Token."

5. Send or Receive BYTE Tokens:

• To send BYTE tokens, click "Send" and enter the recipient's address and the amount of tokens to send.
• To receive BYTE tokens, share your MetaMask wallet address with the sender.
• Transactions will be reflected in your MetaMask balance and on the Obyte block explorer.

Additional Notes:

• You cannot add the Obyte testnet to MetaMask.
