How to add a network to Web3 wallet? Connect different blockchains
Adding networks to a Web3 wallet allows users to seamlessly connect to different blockchains, expanding their access to a vast ecosystem of decentralized applications (dApps) and cryptocurrencies.
Oct 21, 2024 at 08:00 am
Web3 wallets, such as MetaMask, allow users to interact with decentralized applications (dApps) and cryptocurrencies on various blockchains. Adding a network to your Web3 wallet enables you to connect to the specific blockchain and access its ecosystem of dApps and tokens.
Steps to Add a Network to Your Web3 Wallet:- Open your Web3 wallet.
- Click on the "Settings" or "Network" tab.
- Select the "Add Network" option.
- Enter the network details:
- Network Name: The name of the blockchain network (e.g., Ethereum Mainnet)
- New RPC URL: The address of the network's RPC server
- Chain ID: A unique identifier for the blockchain network
- Symbol: The ticker symbol of the native currency (e.g., ETH for Ethereum)
- Block Explorer URL: The website that allows you to search and view blockchain data (optional)
- Click on "Save" or "Add Network."
Example: Adding Ethereum Mainnet to MetaMask
- Install MetaMask as a browser extension.
- Click on the MetaMask logo in your browser toolbar.
- Select "Settings."
- Click on "Networks."
- Click on "Add Network."
Enter the following details:
- Network Name: Ethereum Mainnet
- New RPC URL: https://mainnet.infura.io/v3/9aa3d95b3bc440fa88ea12eaa4456161
- Chain ID: 1
- Symbol: ETH
- Block Explorer URL: https://etherscan.io (optional)
- Click on "Save."
Once you have added a network to your Web3 wallet, you can switch between different blockchains by selecting the desired network name from the network list. This allows you to access the respective dApps and tokens on that blockchain.
