How to add the Zero-Knowledge Rollups mainnet to MetaMask
Zero-Knowledge Rollups (ZK-Rollups) are a type of Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum that uses advanced cryptography to achieve significant performance improvements while maintaining the security of the underlying blockchain. By leveraging ZK-Rollups, users can enjoy faster and cheaper transactions without compromising the integrity of their assets. This guide will provide a step-by-step walkthrough on how to add the ZK-Rollups mainnet to your MetaMask wallet, enabling you to seamlessly interact with ZK-Rollup-based applications and services.
Prerequisites
Before adding the ZK-Rollups mainnet to MetaMask, ensure that you have the following:
- A MetaMask wallet installed as a browser extension or mobile app.
- Some ETH in your MetaMask wallet to cover transaction fees.
- A compatible ZK-Rollup provider, such as zkSync or StarkNet.
Steps:
- Open your MetaMask wallet and click on the "Networks" tab.
- Click on the "Add Network" button at the bottom of the list.
- In the "Network Name" field, enter the name of the ZK-Rollup mainnet you wish to add. For example, "zkSync Mainnet" or "StarkNet Mainnet".
- In the "New RPC URL" field, enter the RPC URL provided by the ZK-Rollup provider. For zkSync, the RPC URL is https://mainnet-api.zksync.io, and for StarkNet, it is https://alpha4.starknet.io.
- In the "Chain ID" field, enter the chain ID of the ZK-Rollup mainnet. For zkSync, the chain ID is 1024, and for StarkNet, it is 31337.
- In the "Currency Symbol" field, enter the currency symbol for the ZK-Rollup mainnet. For zkSync, the currency symbol is ZK, and for StarkNet, it is STARK.
- In the "Block Explorer URL" field, enter the URL of the block explorer for the ZK-Rollup mainnet. For zkSync, the block explorer URL is https://zksync.info, and for StarkNet, it is https://starknet.io/explorer.
- Click on the "Save" button to add the ZK-Rollups mainnet to your MetaMask wallet.
- Your MetaMask wallet will now be connected to the ZK-Rollups mainnet. You can verify this by checking the "Network" dropdown at the top of the MetaMask interface, which should display the name of the ZK-Rollups mainnet you added.
Additional Notes:
This guide assumes that you are adding the zkSync or StarkNet mainnet to MetaMask. The steps may vary slightly if you are adding a different ZK-Rollups mainnet.
It is important to note that ZK-Rollup-based applications and services may require additional setup and configuration within MetaMask. Please refer to the documentation provided by the specific ZK-Rollup provider for detailed instructions on how to interact with their platform.
