How to Add the IoTeX Mainnet to MetaMask
Introduction:
MetaMask is a popular cryptocurrency wallet used to interact with decentralized applications (dApps) on various blockchains. IoTeX is a blockchain platform that focuses on the Internet of Things (IoT) and provides a range of services including data analytics, device management, and secure communication. By adding the IoTeX mainnet to MetaMask, you can easily access and interact with IoTeX dApps and manage your IoTeX tokens.
Step 1: Install MetaMask
- Visit the MetaMask website at https://metamask.io/ and click "Download".
- Download the MetaMask extension for your preferred browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge).
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the MetaMask installation.
Step 2: Create a MetaMask Wallet
- Open MetaMask in your browser.
- If you are creating a new wallet, click "Create a Wallet".
- Provide a strong password and make sure to note it down securely.
- Read and agree to the MetaMask Terms of Use.
- Click "Create" to complete the wallet creation process.
Step 3: Add IoTeX Mainnet to MetaMask
- Click on the "Networks" tab in the top right corner of MetaMask.
- Click "Add Network".
- In the "Network Name" field, enter "IoTeX Mainnet".
- In the "New RPC URL" field, enter the IoTeX Mainnet RPC URL: https://babel.mainnet.iotex.io
- In the "Chain ID" field, enter "4689".
- In the "Currency Symbol" field, enter "IOTX".
- In the "Block Explorer URL" field, enter "https://iotexscan.io".
- Click "Save".
Step 4: Add IoTeX Tokens to MetaMask
- Click on the "Assets" tab in the left navigation bar.
- Click "Import Tokens".
- In the "Token Contract Address" field, enter the IoTeX Mainnet token contract address: 0x9d8f26f0965bfea8ed727ce332e59266f2009928
- Click "Add Custom Token".
- Your IoTeX tokens will now be displayed in your MetaMask wallet.
Step 5: Connect to IoTeX dApps
- Open the IoTeX dApp that you want to use.
- Click on the "Connect Wallet" button.
- Select "MetaMask".
- Review and confirm the connection request.
- You should now be able to interact with the IoTeX dApp using your MetaMask wallet.
