How to Add Coinbase Wallet to Google Authenticator

Step 1: Install Google Authenticator

  • Download and install Google Authenticator from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

Step 2: Open Coinbase and Enable 2-Step Verification

  • Log in to your Coinbase account on the Coinbase mobile app.
  • Tap "Security" in the bottom menu.
  • Under "2-Step Verification," tap "Enable."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and choose "Google Authenticator App" as your verification method.

Step 3: Scan the QR Code

  • Open the Google Authenticator app on your phone.
  • Tap the plus (+) icon and select "Scan Barcode."
  • Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code displayed on the Coinbase app.

Step 4: Enter the Verification Code

  • Once the QR code is scanned, Google Authenticator will generate a six-digit verification code.
  • Enter this code into the Coinbase app to complete the setup.

Step 5: Save Your Backup Codes

  • After enabling 2-Step Verification, Coinbase will provide you with six backup codes.
  • These codes can be used to access your account if you lose your phone or the Google Authenticator app.
  • Store your backup codes in a safe place.

Additional Notes:

  • Your Coinbase Wallet is now linked to your Google Authenticator account.
  • Whenever you sign in to your Coinbase account, you will be prompted to enter a verification code generated by Google Authenticator.
  • If you want to disable 2-Step Verification, follow the same steps in Coinbase app and select "Disable 2-Step Verification" at the end.
