How to Use Copy Trading Signals on Bybit? Beginner Guide

Bybit’s copy trading lets users auto-replicate top traders’ USDⓈ-M perpetual trades in real time—backed by smart contracts, KYC Level 2, risk controls, and full allocation customization.

May 13, 2026 at 03:19 am

Understanding Copy Trading on Bybit

1. Copy trading is a feature that allows users to automatically replicate the trades of experienced traders in real time.

2. Bybit launched its copy trading platform in early 2023 and expanded it significantly by 2025 with enhanced risk controls and performance filters.

3. The system operates via smart contract-based execution, ensuring trade replication occurs within milliseconds of the original order being placed.

4. Users retain full control over allocation size, stop-loss triggers, and maximum drawdown limits per copied trader.

5. All copied positions appear directly in the user’s derivatives account and are subject to Bybit’s standard margin requirements and liquidation rules.

Eligibility and Account Setup

1. Users must complete KYC Level 2 verification to access copy trading functionality.

2. A minimum account balance of 50 USDT is required before initiating any copy trading activity.

3. The feature is only available for USDⓈ-M perpetual contracts — BTC, ETH, SOL, and XRP pairs are most commonly copied.

4. Users cannot copy traders who have less than 30 days of verified live trading history or fewer than 50 closed positions.

5. Bybit enforces a mandatory 24-hour cooling-off period after unsubscribing from a trader before switching to another.

Navigating the Copy Trading Interface

1. Access is located under the “Trade” tab in the web interface, then select “Copy Trading” from the dropdown menu.

2. The leaderboard displays top-performing traders sorted by Sharpe ratio, profit factor, and max drawdown — all calculated using on-chain trade data.

3. Each trader profile shows real-time equity curve, open position count, average holding time, and win rate derived from executed orders only.

4. One-click subscription requires confirming allocation percentage, leverage setting, and whether to follow the trader’s native leverage or apply a custom cap.

5. Users can pause copying at any moment without closing existing positions — paused copies will not open new trades but maintain current exposure.

Risk Management Tools

1. The “Risk Score” metric is computed daily using volatility-adjusted PnL, slippage frequency, and position concentration across assets.

2. Users may set automatic de-subscription if a followed trader’s equity drops below 80% of their peak value over the past 90 days.

3. Bybit applies dynamic margin buffering: if the copied trader uses 25x leverage, the follower’s effective leverage defaults to 20x unless manually overridden.

4. Negative balance protection is enforced — no follower account can fall below zero regardless of underlying trader performance.

5. Historical backtesting is available for each trader using Bybit’s proprietary simulator, which replays past market conditions with exact entry/exit timestamps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Can I copy multiple traders simultaneously?Yes. Bybit supports up to five active subscriptions per account. Each allocation is independent and managed separately.

Q2: Are fees charged for using copy trading? No additional platform fee is applied. Followers pay standard taker/maker fees based on their own trading tier. Traders receive no commission from followers’ activity.

Q3: Do copied positions appear on my personal trading statement?Yes. All copied trades are logged with unique identifiers prefixed “CT-”, visible in transaction history and exportable as CSV.

Q4: What happens if the trader I’m copying gets liquidated?Copied positions remain open until your own margin triggers liquidation. Their liquidation does not auto-close your positions or alter your risk parameters.
