What is the issuance and circulation of DASH coins?

1. Issuance of DASH Coins

DASH coins are issued through a process known as mining. Miners use specialized computer hardware to solve complex mathematical equations to create new blocks of transactions. When a miner successfully mines a block, they receive a reward in the form of DASH coins. The block reward is currently 6.4 DASH coins and is halved every 210,000 blocks (approximately 4 years).

2. Circulation of DASH Coins

The total number of DASH coins that will ever be created is limited to 18.9 million. This maximum supply is hard-coded into the DASH blockchain protocol and cannot be changed.

As of February 2023, there are approximately 11.4 million DASH coins in circulation. The remaining coins will be issued over time through the mining process.

3. DASH Coin Distribution

The initial distribution of DASH coins was as follows:

45% to miners
20% to the DASH core team
20% to early investors
10% to the DASH treasury
5% to Masternodes (a type of decentralized server)

4. DASH Coin Market Value

The market value of DASH coins fluctuates based on supply and demand. As of February 2023, one DASH coin is worth approximately $50. The total market capitalization of DASH is around $570 million.
