How Does Bybit Copy Trading Profit Sharing Work?

3. No manual settlement is required — profits are credited instantly to the follower’s wallet upon the leader’s trade closure.

4. Losses are deducted in real time from the follower’s margin balance, with no deferred liability or retroactive adjustment.

5. Fees such as taker charges and funding rates incurred by the leader are fully passed through to followers at identical rates and timing.

Fee Allocation Structure

1. Bybit does not impose an additional platform fee on copy trading profits — followers retain 100% of their net PnL after leader-imposed settings.

2. Leaders may configure a profit-sharing ratio between 0% and 100%, applied only to net profits after all transaction costs.

3. The sharing ratio is enforced per trade cycle; if a leader sets 20%, followers keep 80% of net gains, while the leader receives 20% directly into their Earn wallet.

4. No sharing applies to losses — followers bear full loss exposure without any offset or rebate from the leader.

5. All profit-sharing transfers occur on-chain via internal ledger entries, visible in both parties’ transaction history under “Copy Trade Settlement”.

Capital Allocation Rules

1. Followers assign fixed or percentage-based capital when initiating a copy relationship — changes take effect only on new positions.

2. Existing copied positions remain unaffected by subsequent adjustments to allocation settings.

3. Leverage used by followers is independent of the leader’s leverage — each follower sets their own margin level before copying.

4. If a follower’s margin falls below maintenance requirements due to adverse price movement, automatic liquidation occurs without coordination with the leader’s status.

5. Minimum allocation thresholds apply per leader: some top-tier leaders enforce 100 USDT minimum commitment, while others allow as low as 10 USDT.

Risk Management Protocols

1. Followers can set individual stop-loss limits that override the leader’s original exit conditions — these are enforced locally on Bybit’s matching engine.

2. Maximum drawdown caps prevent further copying once a follower’s equity drops below a preset percentage of initial capital.

3. Leaders cannot modify follower-specific parameters — all risk controls reside exclusively in the follower’s interface.

4. Real-time position mirroring includes slippage tolerance bands; orders execute within ±0.3% of leader execution price unless market depth fails.

5. Negative balance protection ensures no follower account dips below zero — forced liquidations halt before equity reaches negative territory.

Common Questions & Answers

Q1: Can a leader withdraw profit shares before the follower closes their copied position? No. Profit sharing triggers only upon full or partial closure of the copied position. Unsettled PnL remains locked until execution completes.

Q2: Are profit shares subject to taxation by Bybit or reported to tax authorities? Bybit does not withhold taxes nor file reports. Followers receive raw transaction records and must self-report based on local jurisdiction requirements.
