3. History of FIS

FIS was founded in 1924 in Chamonix, France.
The first FIS Alpine World Ski Championships were held in 1931.
The first FIS Nordic World Ski Championships were held in 1925.
FIS recognized snowboarding as a discipline in 1995.

4. Structure of FIS

FIS is headed by a President and a Secretary General.
FIS is divided into 14 commissions, each responsible for a specific area of skiing or snowboarding.
FIS has 133 member nations.

5. FIS Competitions

FIS organizes the FIS Alpine World Cup, FIS Nordic World Cup, FIS Ski Jumping World Cup, and FIS Snowboard World Cup.
FIS also organizes the FIS World Championships in alpine skiing, nordic skiing, snowboarding, freestyle skiing, and ski jumping.
