How to View Your Futures Positions on OKX?

To monitor active futures positions on OKX, check the real-time Positions section—showing size, PnL, liquidation price, and margin level—or use the mobile app, Portfolio dashboard, or API for live updates and alerts.

Accessing the Futures Trading Interface

1. Log in to your OKX account using verified credentials and two-factor authentication.

2. Navigate to the top navigation bar and select Futures from the dropdown menu.

3. Choose between USDT-Margined or COIN-Margined futures based on your trading preference and asset allocation.

4. Confirm that the correct trading pair is loaded in the order book panel before proceeding further.

5. Ensure your account has sufficient margin balance to avoid unintended liquidation warnings during position inspection.

Locating Active Positions in Real Time

1. Scroll down to the Positions section located directly beneath the chart area.

2. Each open position displays key metrics including instrument ID, size, entry price, mark price, unrealized PnL, and margin level.

3. Positions are automatically sorted by size, with larger positions appearing at the top of the list.

4. Click the expand icon next to any position to reveal detailed breakdowns such as leverage setting, isolated/cross margin mode, and liquidation price.

5. A green or red indicator beside unrealized PnL reflects profit or loss status in real time without requiring manual refresh.

Using the Portfolio Margin Dashboard

1. Switch to the Portfolio tab within the Futures interface to view aggregated exposure across all futures instruments.

2. The dashboard shows total position value, net margin used, available margin, and overall maintenance margin ratio.

3. Hover over the Margin Ratio gauge to see the exact threshold at which forced liquidation would trigger.

4. Click the Details button to download a CSV report containing timestamps, entry times, and funding fee history for each position.

5. Filter positions by asset class or settlement currency using the built-in dropdown selectors above the summary table.

Mobile App Position Tracking

1. Open the OKX mobile application and authenticate via biometric or PIN verification.

2. Tap the Trade icon at the bottom navigation bar, then select Futures.

3. Swipe left on the main screen to access the Positions tab—no additional menu navigation required.

4. Long-press any active position card to copy its instrument ID or share position details via external apps.

5. Enable push notifications for Margin Call Alerts and Liquidation Warnings in Settings > Notifications > Futures.

API-Based Position Retrieval

1. Initialize an authenticated AccountAPI instance using environment variables for API key, secret, and passphrase.

2. Call the get_positions() method with parameters specifying instType=FUTURES and optional instId filters.

3. Parse the returned JSON response to extract pos, avgPx, upl, and liqPx fields for each contract.

4. Integrate timestamped position snapshots into a local database for historical trend analysis and backtesting.

5. Set up a WebSocket connection to public/positions channel to receive live updates without polling overhead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why does my position show zero size even though I placed an order?A: This occurs when the order is still in pending status or partially filled. Only fully executed orders appear under active positions.

Q: Can I view closed positions from last week?A: Yes. Go to History > Futures Orders and adjust the date range filter to retrieve executed, canceled, or expired orders.

Q: Is the mark price the same as the last traded price?A: No. Mark price is calculated using a composite index of major spot exchanges and includes funding adjustments, while last traded price reflects the most recent execution on OKX’s order book.

Q: What happens if my margin level drops below 100%?A: You will receive a margin call notification. If no action is taken and the level falls to the liquidation threshold, positions are automatically closed at market price.
