How to find my full transaction and PNL history on Bybit for tax reporting?
To file taxes, export Bybit’s 90-day CSV transaction histories from Spot, Derivatives (Trade History + Closed P&L), and Unified Account tabs—then consolidate, normalize assets, and verify blockchain TXIDs for deposits/withdrawals.
Dec 09, 2025 at 10:40 am
Accessing Your Transaction History
1. Log into your Bybit account using desktop web browser or the official Bybit app. Mobile app access may limit export options compared to the web interface.
2. Navigate to the top-right corner and click on your profile icon, then select Account from the dropdown menu.
3. Choose Transaction History under the Account section. This tab consolidates deposits, withdrawals, and internal transfers across all wallet types including Unified, Contract, and Spot.
4. Use the date range selector to define the exact fiscal period required for tax filing. Bybit allows filtering up to 90 days per request, so multi-year reports require sequential exports.
5. Click Export to download a CSV file containing timestamps, asset symbols, amounts, fees, and transaction types. Ensure “Include fee” is enabled before exporting.
Retrieving Derivatives PNL Data
1. Go to Derivatives in the main navigation bar, then select Contract or USDT Perpetual, depending on your trading instrument.
2. Open the Order History tab to view executed orders, including entry/exit prices, sizes, and order IDs. This data alone does not reflect realized PNL.
3. Switch to the Trade History tab to see every filled trade with side (buy/sell), price, quantity, and timestamp. Each row corresponds to a single execution event.
4. For accurate PNL calculation, locate the Closed P&L column in Trade History. This field shows net profit or loss per trade after deducting funding fees and commissions.
5. Export this dataset separately using the Download button. Note that funding payments, liquidation events, and auto-deleveraging settlements appear as distinct entries and must be included in tax calculations.
Unified Trading Account Reporting
1. If you use Bybit’s Unified Trading Account, go to Unified Trading > History to access cross-margin and isolated position lifecycle records.
2. The Position History tab displays opening time, closing time, direction, entry and exit prices, size, and final PNL. This includes both manual closes and forced closures.
3. Funding rate accruals are logged under Funding History. These entries carry positive or negative values and directly impact taxable income or deductible losses.
4. Margin transfers between sub-accounts—such as moving USDT from Spot to Unified—are recorded in Internal Transfers. These are non-taxable events but must be tracked to avoid double-counting assets.
5. All Unified Account exports generate CSV files with ISO 8601 timestamps, asset tickers in uppercase, and PNL values denominated in the settlement currency (e.g., USDT).
Consolidating Data for Tax Preparation
1. Combine CSV exports from Spot, Derivatives, and Unified sections into a single master spreadsheet. Align columns for date, asset, type (trade/deposit/withdrawal/funding), amount, fee, and PNL.
2. Normalize asset identifiers: Bybit uses “BTCUSD” for inverse perpetuals but “BTC” for spot. Convert all to base asset names (e.g., BTC, ETH, USDT) for consistent cost-basis tracking.
3. Identify wash sale patterns manually if applicable—Bybit does not flag these. Match buy and sell orders within 30 days for identical assets to assess disallowed losses.
4. Cross-reference deposit and withdrawal records with blockchain explorers to verify network confirmations and timestamps, especially for non-custodial wallet movements.
5. Retain raw CSV files alongside processed tax worksheets. Tax authorities may request original exchange-generated logs during audits.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does Bybit provide pre-formatted tax reports like Form 8949 or HMRC SA108?A: No. Bybit only supplies raw CSV exports without tax-form logic, jurisdiction-specific categorization, or cost-basis methodology application.
Q: Are funding payments considered taxable income or deductible expenses?A: Yes. Funding received increases taxable income; funding paid reduces taxable income. Both are reportable as ordinary income or loss in most jurisdictions.
Q: Can I retrieve transaction history older than 90 days?A: Yes. Use the pagination arrows at the bottom of each history page to scroll backward in time. Export functionality remains limited to 90-day windows per request.
Q: Do Bybit’s CSV exports include trade ID hashes or blockchain transaction IDs?A: No. Deposits and withdrawals list TXIDs, but trade-level executions do not contain on-chain identifiers since they occur off-chain within Bybit’s matching engine.
