How to set up an Anti-Phishing Code on Gate.io? (Security Tips)
An anti-phishing code is a unique, user-defined alphanumeric string (4–12 chars) displayed in all official Gate.io emails to verify authenticity and prevent phishing—never shared with support.
Apr 19, 2026 at 05:40 pm
What Is an Anti-Phishing Code?
1. An anti-phishing code is a personalized string of characters assigned exclusively to your Gate.io account.
2. It appears in all official emails sent by Gate.io, including withdrawal confirmations and security alerts.
3. Its presence confirms the authenticity of the message—absence indicates potential phishing attempts.
4. The code is never shared with customer support or third parties under any circumstances.
5. It remains active until manually updated or disabled via secure account settings.
Step-by-Step Setup Process
1. Log into your Gate.io account using verified credentials and two-factor authentication.
2. Navigate to Security Center from the user dropdown menu in the top-right corner.
3. Select Anti-Phishing Code under the Advanced Security section.
4. Click Enable, then enter a custom alphanumeric code between 4 and 12 characters long.
5. Confirm activation by entering the verification code sent to your registered email or authenticator app.
Verification & Usage Confirmation
1. After successful setup, the code will appear at the bottom of every system-generated email from Gate.io.
2. You can view or copy the current code directly within the Security Center interface.
3. No transaction notifications or login prompts will display the code unless they originate from Gate.io’s verified infrastructure.
4. If you receive an email claiming to be from Gate.io but lacking the exact code, treat it as fraudulent.
5. Gate.io staff will never ask for your anti-phishing code during live chat, phone calls, or email correspondence.
Updating or Disabling the Code
1. Return to the Anti-Phishing Code section inside Security Center.
2. Click Modify to change the existing code; the system requires re-verification before saving.
3. To disable, select Disable and complete identity validation through SMS or Google Authenticator.
4. Disabling does not affect other security layers such as 2FA or withdrawal whitelists.
5. A new code can be generated immediately after disabling without waiting periods or cooldowns.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use symbols like @ or # in my anti-phishing code?Only letters and numbers are permitted. Special characters are rejected during input validation.
Q: Does enabling the anti-phishing code impact API key functionality? No. API operations remain fully functional and unaffected by this setting.
Q: Will my anti-phishing code appear in SMS messages? No. It only appears in emails sent from Gate.io’s verified domains, not in SMS or push notifications.
Q: What happens if I forget my anti-phishing code? You can retrieve or reset it anytime by logging in and visiting the Security Center—no recovery questions or external verification needed.
