How to set up a sub-account on Binance? (Asset management)
To create a Binance sub-account, log in, go to User Center → Sub-Accounts → Create Sub-Account, name it, set trading scope & permissions, fund it, and verify via email—no fees apply.
Feb 28, 2026 at 03:00 am
Accessing the Sub-Account Creation Interface
1. Log in to your Binance account using verified credentials and two-factor authentication.
2. Navigate to the top-right corner of the dashboard and click on your profile icon.
3. Select “User Center” from the dropdown menu to enter the account management section.
4. On the left sidebar, locate and click “Sub-Accounts” under the “Asset Management” category.
5. Click the “Create Sub-Account” button to initiate the setup process.
Configuring Sub-Account Permissions
1. Enter a unique and descriptive name for the sub-account—this cannot be changed later.
2. Choose between “Spot & Margin” or “Futures” as the primary trading scope; this determines available asset types and order execution capabilities.
3. Assign specific API key permissions if required, but note that API access is disabled by default for security reasons.
4. Enable or disable fund transfer rights between the main and sub-account; disabling prevents unauthorized movement of assets.
5. Toggle “Withdrawal Permission” to OFF unless explicitly needed—most institutional setups keep this disabled at creation.
Managing Asset Allocation
1. After creation, return to the “Sub-Accounts” page to view the newly generated account ID and status.
2. Click “Transfer” next to the sub-account to move USDT, BTC, or other supported tokens from the main wallet.
3. Specify exact amounts and confirm transfers using email or Google Authenticator verification.
4. Monitor real-time balance updates in both the main and sub-account dashboards without delay.
5. Use the “Transaction History” tab within each sub-account to audit all deposits, withdrawals, and internal transfers.
Security Protocols and Verification Steps
1. Each sub-account inherits the main account’s KYC level but requires separate login credentials.
2. Email confirmation is mandatory after creation—failure to verify blocks login attempts.
3. Sub-accounts do not share API keys with the parent account unless manually assigned and re-authorized.
4. Login IP restrictions can be applied per sub-account via “Security Settings” to limit access geography.
5. All sub-account logins trigger immediate email notifications to the main account holder.
Troubleshooting Common Setup Failures
1. If “Create Sub-Account” remains grayed out, ensure your account has completed Level 2 KYC verification.
2. Repeated email verification failures often stem from spam filters—check junk folders or request a new link.
3. Transfers failing with “Insufficient Balance” may reflect unconfirmed deposits or pending withdrawal holds.
4. Sub-account names containing special characters or spaces will be rejected during submission.
5. Attempting to create more than five active sub-accounts triggers an automatic system block until one is deleted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can a sub-account trade independently without main account intervention?A: Yes—once funded and permissions are configured, it operates as a standalone trading entity with its own order history and margin usage.
Q: Is there a fee associated with creating or maintaining a sub-account?A: No—Binance does not charge setup, maintenance, or dormant fees for sub-accounts under standard asset management use.
Q: Do sub-accounts appear on tax reporting documents issued by Binance?A: Yes—each sub-account generates separate transaction records and can be exported individually for compliance purposes.
Q: Can I assign different language or timezone preferences to a sub-account?A: No—language and timezone settings are inherited exclusively from the main account and cannot be customized per sub-account.
