okx exchange which country

OKX, formerly OKEx, initially registered in Belize, later moved its registration to Malta in 2018 to leverage its supportive regulatory environment, now operates globally, serving millions across 200+ countries.

In the world of cryptocurrency trading, OKX Exchange is a highly-watched platform. Many people are curious about the country where the OKX exchange is located when entering the cryptocurrency trading field. To answer this question, you need to have an in-depth understanding of its development history and layout.

OKX Exchange was founded in 2017. At first, it was registered in Belize . However, with the expansion of the business and the changes in the global cryptocurrency market environment, on July 2, 2018, OKEx announced that it would move its registered place from Belize to Malta , and set up an office in Malaysia and recruit talents. This move was closely related to Malta's policy environment at that time. The Malta government actively promoted the development of digital assets, blockchain and decentralized ledger technology (DLT), passed relevant bills, attracting many cryptocurrency companies to settle in.

From the perspective of business coverage, OKX is already a global digital asset service platform, covering more than 200 countries and regions, with tens of millions of users. Its business is not restricted by a single country and provides users with a diversified product matrix such as currency, leverage, options/delivery/perpetual contracts, DEX trading, Yubibao, DeFi mining, lending and other diverse product matrixes on a global scale.
In 2021, OKEx officially launched the Chinese name "Ouyi" and issued a notice on October 13 of the same year, stating that since September 2017, it has shifted its business focus to the international market and will not promote and serve the mainland Chinese market. Its website is not accessible in mainland China, and the App has also removed all application markets in mainland China. On January 18, 2022, cryptocurrency exchange Ouyi issued an announcement that OKEx was renamed OKX. This series of brand changes and business adjustments further demonstrates its strategic layout in the global market and its adaptation to the regulatory environment in different regions.
Although OKX has a registered place and related business layout in Malta, due to the particularity of cryptocurrency transactions and the borderlessness of the Internet, its services are aimed at users in many countries and regions around the world. When using OKX exchange to trade, users need to pay attention to the relevant laws and regulations of cryptocurrency transactions in their country or region to ensure the legality of their trading behavior. Different countries and regions have different attitudes on cryptocurrencies. Some countries are open and encouraged, while others impose strict restrictions or even bans. Therefore, it is a crucial step to fully understand local regulations before participating in cryptocurrency transactions.
