How to use KuCoin OCO orders? (Advanced trading)

OCO订单(二选一委托)在KuCoin上由限价单与止损单绑定组成,任一触发即自动撤销另一单,支持现货交易、需同为GTC类型,且买卖方向价格逻辑须严格校验。

Understanding OCO Order Mechanics on KuCoin

1. An OCO (One Cancels the Other) order on KuCoin consists of two linked conditional orders: one limit order and one stop order.

2. Both orders share the same base asset, quote asset, and order type—either buy or sell—but operate at distinct price levels.

3. When either order triggers and executes—even partially—the other is instantly canceled by the exchange’s matching engine.

4. KuCoin enforces strict time-in-force alignment: both legs must be set to “Good Till Cancelled” (GTC); day orders or immediate-or-cancel variants are not supported in OCO mode.

5. The platform validates price logic before submission—for buy OCOs, the limit price must be lower than the stop price; for sell OCOs, the limit price must be higher than the stop price.

KuCoin Interface Navigation for OCO Setup

1. Log into your KuCoin account and navigate to the spot trading interface for the desired trading pair.

2. Locate the “Advanced Orders” tab beneath the standard order book panel—this section houses OCO, trailing stop, and iceberg options.

3. Select “OCO” from the dropdown menu to activate the dual-order input form.

4. Enter the limit price and associated quantity, then separately specify the stop price and its quantity—KuCoin requires identical quantities for both legs.

5. Click “Buy/Sell OCO” to submit; the system displays real-time status indicators showing whether each leg remains pending, triggered, or canceled.

Risk Parameters and Price Validation Rules

1. KuCoin rejects OCO submissions where the stop price for a buy order is equal to or below the limit price—such configurations violate execution precedence logic.

2. For sell OCOs, the stop price cannot exceed the limit price; doing so would invert the intended risk-reward hierarchy.

3. Stop prices must respect KuCoin’s tick size and minimum price increment rules per trading pair—violation results in an immediate “Invalid Price” error.

4. Account balance checks occur pre-submission: sufficient base asset must be available for sell OCOs; sufficient quote asset required for buy OCOs.

5. Leverage is not applicable—OCO functionality is restricted to spot markets only on KuCoin as of current protocol version.

Execution Behavior During Market Volatility

1. During rapid price movements, KuCoin’s matching engine processes the first qualifying trigger—either limit or stop—based on timestamped order receipt at the gateway level.

2. If both conditions are met simultaneously due to slippage or gap moves, the system prioritizes the stop order for execution consistency with risk-first protocol design.

3. Partial fills on the limit leg do not cancel the stop leg until full or partial execution occurs—cancellation is atomic and irreversible upon any fill event.

4. No reactivation is possible post-cancellation; traders must manually resubmit a new OCO if market conditions re-emerge.

5. WebSocket feeds emit separate “OCO_TRIGGERED” and “OCO_CANCELED” events, enabling algorithmic clients to log precise state transitions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I modify one leg of an active OCO order on KuCoin? No. KuCoin does not support editing individual components of a submitted OCO. Traders must cancel the entire OCO and re-enter both legs with updated parameters.

Q: Does KuCoin charge separate fees for each leg of an OCO order? Yes. Each executed leg incurs its own taker or maker fee based on execution method, calculated independently against the filled quantity.

Q: Are OCO orders visible in the public order book? Neither leg appears in the public order book. Only executed fills appear in trade history; pending legs remain hidden from market participants.

Q: What happens if my OCO order triggers but fails to fill completely due to liquidity shortage? The executed portion settles immediately; the unfilled remainder of that leg is canceled, and the opposing leg is also canceled—no residual orders remain.
