Accessing the KuCoin Dashboard

1. Navigate to the official KuCoin website and log in using your registered email and password. Two-factor authentication must be enabled for added security, so ensure your authenticator app or SMS verification is ready.

2. Once logged in, locate the user profile icon typically positioned at the top-right corner of the dashboard. Click on it to reveal a dropdown menu containing account management options.

3. From the dropdown, select “Sub-Account Management.” This section allows users to create, edit, and monitor sub-accounts linked to the primary account.

4. Before proceeding, KuCoin may prompt you to complete a brief identity verification for the sub-account feature, especially if it's your first time accessing this function.

5. Ensure your main account has sufficient permissions enabled. Some features might be restricted based on regional regulations or account verification levels.

Creating a New Sub-Account

1. Inside the Sub-Account Management panel, click the “Create Sub-Account” button. A pop-up window will appear requesting basic details such as the desired username and email address for the new sub-account.

2. Choose a unique and secure email that isn’t already associated with another KuCoin account. The username must also be distinct from existing accounts on the platform.

3. Set a strong password for the sub-account. Although the primary account holder manages access, the password should still follow best security practices to prevent unauthorized entry.

4. Define the permission level for the sub-account. Options include read-only access, trading permissions, or withdrawal restrictions. Assign only the necessary privileges based on intended use.

5. Confirm all entered information and click “Submit.” KuCoin will process the request and send a confirmation email to the provided address to finalize setup.

Managing Sub-Account Permissions and Assets

1. After creation, return to the Sub-Account Management section to view the newly created account. Each sub-account appears with its assigned permissions and current status.

2. Use the “Transfer” function under the assets tab to allocate funds between the main account and sub-accounts. Internal transfers are instant and do not incur fees.

3. Adjust permission settings at any time by selecting the sub-account and clicking “Edit Permissions.” This is useful when changing roles or limiting access temporarily.

4. Monitor activity logs for each sub-account to track login attempts, trades, and fund movements. These logs enhance transparency and help detect unusual behavior.

5. Sub-accounts operate independently but remain under the control of the main account holder, making them ideal for team-based trading strategies or managing investments for family members.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a sub-account withdraw funds directly?Yes, but only if the main account holder has explicitly granted withdrawal permissions during setup. Without this authorization, the sub-account cannot initiate withdrawals.

Is there a limit to how many sub-accounts I can create?KuCoin allows up to five sub-accounts per main account under standard conditions. Users with higher verification tiers or institutional accounts may have increased limits.

Do sub-accounts have separate API keys?Yes, each sub-account can generate its own API keys. These keys are restricted by the permission settings defined by the main account and can be used for automated trading bots or portfolio tracking tools.

What happens if the main account gets locked or suspended? If the primary account faces suspension due to policy violations or security concerns, all associated sub-accounts will also be deactivated until the issue is resolved.
