How to Convert ETH to USDT on OKX

Accessing the Spot Trading Interface

1. Log in to your OKX account using verified credentials and complete two-factor authentication.

2. Navigate to the top navigation bar and select Trade, then click Spot from the dropdown menu.

3. In the search box located at the center of the trading interface, type ETH-USDT to load the corresponding trading pair.

4. Confirm that the market status shows Open and the order book displays real-time bid/ask depth.

5. Ensure your ETH balance is visible under the Assets tab on the right-hand sidebar.

Placing a Market Sell Order

1. Switch to the Market order tab on the order entry panel.

2. Click the Sell ETH button to activate the sell form.

3. Enter the exact quantity of ETH you wish to convert—no decimal rounding is required as OKX supports up to 8 decimal places.

4. Verify that the estimated USDT proceeds appear dynamically below the input field, calculated using the best available ask price.

5. Press Confirm Sell and approve the transaction via your configured authentication method.

Verifying Transaction Completion

1. Immediately after submission, check the Order History section for an entry with status Fulfilled.

2. Cross-reference the executed price and size against the real-time ticker to confirm alignment with prevailing market conditions.

3. Open the Assets panel and locate the USDT row to verify the credited amount matches the expected output minus any applicable taker fee.

4. Inspect the Transaction History log for a record labeled Spot Trade Settlement with matching timestamp and hash.

5. Note that no blockchain confirmation is involved—this is an internal ledger adjustment within OKX’s custody system.

Handling Insufficient ETH Balance Errors

1. If the interface displays Insufficient Balance, open the Assets tab and confirm ETH availability in the Available column—not the Frozen column.

2. Check for active open orders or pending withdrawals that may be reserving ETH balances.

3. Review recent deposit records to ensure ETH arrived on a supported network (e.g., Ethereum Mainnet, Arbitrum, or Optimism) and completed finality.

4. Avoid using wrapped variants like WETH unless explicitly selected in the trading pair—OKX does not auto-convert WETH to ETH for spot trading.

5. Contact OKX support only if the balance discrepancy persists beyond five minutes after deposit confirmation on-chain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I convert ETH to USDT without completing KYC verification?A: Yes. Spot trading between ETH and USDT does not require identity verification on OKX, though withdrawal limits remain restricted until KYC Level 2 is completed.

Q: Is there a minimum ETH amount required for conversion?A: The minimum tradable quantity is 0.001 ETH. Orders below this threshold will be rejected with error code 10006.

Q: Why does my USDT balance not update immediately after a successful trade?A: Delays exceeding 10 seconds indicate either a UI caching issue or a backend synchronization lag. Refreshing the Assets page or switching to another trading pair and returning usually forces an immediate reload.

Q: Are ETH deposits on non-Ethereum networks usable for USDT conversion?A: No. Only ETH deposited via Ethereum Mainnet, Arbitrum One, or Optimism can be used in the ETH-USDT spot market. Deposits on Base, Polygon, or Solana are treated as separate assets and cannot be traded against USDT in this pair.
