How to Find and Cancel a Pending Limit Order on Kraken Pro?
To cancel a pending limit order on Kraken Pro: locate it in the “Open Orders” tab, verify its status and remaining size, click “Cancel,” confirm in the modal, then verify removal and status update.

Accessing the Kraken Pro Order Book Interface
1. Log into your Kraken account using verified credentials and navigate to the Kraken Pro trading interface.
2. Select the desired trading pair from the market dropdown menu—examples include BTC/USD, ETH/USD, or XRP/USD.
3. Ensure the “Orders” tab is active; this displays all open, pending, filled, and canceled orders in real time.
4. Locate the “Open Orders” section, which shows only limit orders that have not yet been executed or canceled.
5. Confirm that the order status column explicitly reads “Open” or “Pending”—this distinguishes it from “Partially Filled” or “Canceled” entries.
Identifying Pending Limit Orders Accurately
1. Each pending limit order displays a unique order ID, timestamp, side (buy/sell), price, volume, and remaining size.
2. Cross-check the order’s creation time against your recent activity log to avoid accidental cancellation of older orders.
3. Verify whether the order uses post-only, IOC, or GTC execution instructions—post-only orders cannot be canceled if they would immediately match.
4. Observe the “Remaining” field: if it matches the original “Volume”, the order is fully unexecuted and truly pending.
5. Note that Kraken Pro does not display wallet addresses or counterparty identifiers—order linkage relies solely on internal exchange metadata.
Executing the Cancellation Process
1. Hover over the target order row and click the “Cancel” button located on the far right side of the row.
2. A confirmation modal appears—read the warning text carefully, especially regarding potential slippage on partial fills.
3. Click “Confirm Cancellation” to submit the request; no secondary authentication is required unless two-factor approval is enforced for order modifications.
4. The order status changes instantly to “Canceled” in the UI, and a system notification confirms successful revocation.
5. Monitor the “Order History” tab to verify the cancellation timestamp and ensure no residual matching occurred during the brief propagation window.
Post-Cancellation Verification Steps
1. Refresh the “Open Orders” table manually to confirm the entry has disappeared from the live list.
2. Check your account balance: unfilled limit orders do not reserve funds, so no balance change should occur upon cancellation.
3. Review the “Recent Activity” feed for an audit trail entry labeled “Order Canceled” with matching order ID and timestamp.
4. If using Kraken’s REST API, query /private/QueryOrders with the order ID to validate its final status as “canceled”.
5. In rare cases where the UI lags, wait up to 5 seconds before rechecking—Kraken Pro synchronizes order state every 2–3 seconds by default.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I cancel a limit order after it has partially filled?Yes. Kraken Pro allows cancellation of partially filled limit orders. Only the remaining unfilled portion is revoked; executed volume remains settled.
Q: Does canceling a limit order incur any fee?No. Kraken does not charge fees for order cancellation, regardless of order size, type, or timing.
Q: What happens if I close the Kraken Pro tab while a limit order is pending? The order remains active on the exchange servers. Browser session termination has no effect on server-side order persistence.
Q: Is there a way to cancel all pending limit orders at once? Not through the web interface. Users must cancel individually. API users may employ CancelAll endpoint with proper permissions and rate-limit awareness.
