How to calculate trading fees on Bybit Futures? (Calculator Guide)
Bybit Futures fees include taker (0.06%) and maker (0.01%) rates—lowered by VIP tier and volume—with rebates up to −0.01%, calculated in quote/base currency, plus funding costs.

Understanding Fee Structure Components
1. Bybit Futures trading fees consist of two distinct components: taker fees and maker fees. Taker fees apply when an order is executed immediately against existing liquidity in the order book. Maker fees apply when an order is placed and added to the order book, providing liquidity.
2. Fee rates vary depending on the user’s VIP level and 30-day trading volume. Higher volumes unlock lower fee tiers, which are applied automatically once thresholds are met. These tiers are published on Bybit’s official fee schedule page and updated daily.
3. The base fee for standard users starts at 0.06% for takers and 0.01% for makers on USDⓈ-margined perpetual contracts. For coin-margined contracts, the same structure applies but may differ slightly based on asset class and market conditions.
4. Negative maker fees—also known as rebates—are available for certain high-volume traders. These rebates incentivize liquidity provision and can reach up to −0.01% under specific VIP tiers and contract types.
5. Fees are calculated in the quote currency for USDⓈ-margined contracts and in the base asset for coin-margined contracts. This distinction affects how fee amounts appear on trade confirmations and account statements.
Step-by-Step Fee Calculation Process
1. Identify the contract type and margin mode in use. This determines whether fees will be denominated in USDT or BTC, ETH, or another underlying coin.
2. Locate the current taker/maker fee rate assigned to your account. This information appears in the “Account” section under “Fee Rate” and reflects real-time tier eligibility.
3. Multiply the notional value of the trade by the applicable fee rate. Notional value equals entry price multiplied by position size (in contracts) and contract multiplier.
4. For a long position opened at $30,000 on BTC/USDT with 10 contracts and a multiplier of 1, the notional value is $300,000. At a taker fee of 0.06%, the fee equals $180.
5. Confirm whether the fee was deducted from the wallet balance or accrued as a negative PnL component. Bybit deducts fees instantly upon trade execution and displays them separately in the transaction history.
Using Bybit’s Built-in Fee Calculator
1. Navigate to the Bybit Futures trading interface and open the “Trade” tab. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner to access advanced settings.
2. Select “Fee Calculator” from the dropdown menu. This opens a modal window showing input fields for contract, order size, price, and order type.
3. Enter realistic values such as BTC/USDT, 5 contracts, $29,500 entry price, and “Market Order”. The calculator instantly displays taker fee amount in USDT.
4. Toggle between “Limit Order” and “Market Order” to compare maker vs taker cost differences. The tool recalculates in real time without requiring page refreshes.
5. Export results using the copy-to-clipboard button. This copies a formatted string including timestamp, contract symbol, fee amount, and fee rate for recordkeeping.
Impact of Funding Rate on Net Cost
1. Although funding payments are separate from trading fees, they contribute significantly to total holding cost. Funding is exchanged every 8 hours and charged or credited based on the difference between mark price and index price.
2. Positive funding rates mean long positions pay shorts; negative rates mean shorts pay longs. These amounts are settled in the settlement currency and appear alongside fee deductions in the wallet ledger.
3. A trade held across multiple funding intervals accumulates funding costs that may exceed initial taker fees. For example, a $100,000 position held for 72 hours at 0.01% per interval incurs $300 in funding alone.
4. Bybit displays upcoming funding timestamps and estimated amounts in the “Positions” panel. Users can hover over the funding indicator to view historical funding data and volatility trends.
5. Funding cost cannot be calculated using the fee calculator. It must be tracked manually using the “Funding History” tab or retrieved via Bybit’s REST API endpoints.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are trading fees applied to both opening and closing positions?Yes. Each execution—whether entry or exit—is subject to its own taker or maker fee based on order type and matching behavior.
Q: Can I see my exact fee rate before placing an order?Yes. Your current fee rate appears next to your account balance in the Futures trading interface and updates dynamically as your 30-day volume changes.
Q: Do stop-market orders incur taker fees?Yes. Stop-market orders trigger as market orders upon activation and therefore always incur taker fees regardless of original placement timing.
Q: Is there a minimum fee per trade? No. Bybit calculates fees proportionally down to micro-units. A $10 notional trade at 0.06% incurs a $0.006 fee, which is processed accurately.
