What is PI Coin?
- Definition: PI coin is a cryptocurrency that aims to become the most widely used digital currency in the world. It is based on the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP) and is designed to be secure, scalable, and inclusive.
- Creation: PI coin was created by a team of Stanford University graduates led by Dr. Nicolas Kokkalis. The project was launched in March 2019.
- Mining Process: Unlike many other cryptocurrencies, PI coin cannot be mined using traditional hardware like ASICs or GPUs. Instead, it is mined through a mobile app that rewards users for their contributions to the network through daily check-ins, recruiting new members (called "pioneers"), and securing the network through the "Know-Your-Customer" (KYC) process.
- Distribution: PI coin is currently in its "distributed ledger phase," where the network is decentralized and the coin is mined through the mobile app. The total supply of PI coins is limited to 21 billion, and the distribution is designed to reward early adopters and those who contribute to the network.
- Value: PI coin does not yet have a market value as it is not currently traded on exchanges. However, the team plans to launch the coin on exchanges in the future.
- Benefits: PI coin is designed to be secure, scalable, and inclusive. It uses the Stellar Consensus Protocol, which has proven to be reliable and efficient. The mobile mining process makes it easy for anyone to participate, regardless of their technical knowledge or financial resources.
- Future: The PI coin team aims to make PI the most widely used digital currency in the world. It plans to launch the coin on exchanges, develop a variety of use cases, and promote the adoption of PI for everyday transactions.
