Where Was Ethereum Created?

1. Conceptualization and Development:Ethereum was conceptualized in 2013 by Vitalik Buterin, a Russian-Canadian programmer. Buterin envisioned a blockchain platform that extended the functionality of Bitcoin by enabling decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contracts.

2. Founding Team and Initial Development:In 2014, Buterin assembled a team of developers, including Gavin Wood, Charles Hoskinson, and Joe Lubin, to work on the Ethereum project. The team based themselves in Zug, Switzerland, which is known for its friendly regulatory environment for blockchain companies.

3. Crowdfunding and Ethereum Network Launch:In 2014-2015, Ethereum conducted a crowdfunding ICO (initial coin offering). The ICO raised over $18 million in Bitcoin and Ether, Ethereum's native cryptocurrency. The Ethereum network went live in July 2015, introducing the blockchain infrastructure and the first version of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

4. Foundation Establishment and HQ Relocation:In 2017, the Ethereum Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Ethereum ecosystem, was established. The Foundation initially based itself in Geneva, Switzerland, but later relocated to Singapore in 2022.

5. Global Impact:Today, Ethereum has become a global blockchain platform with a strong community and developer ecosystem. It has facilitated the development of numerous decentralized applications, smart contracts, and cryptocurrencies built on its network. Ethereum is headquartered in Singapore but has a global presence with teams and activities spread across multiple countries.
