What Currency is KNC?

KNC, or Kyber Network Crystal, is the native token of the Kyber Network, a decentralized exchange protocol that allows for the seamless exchange of ERC-20 tokens. KNC serves multiple functions within the Kyber Network ecosystem, including:

1. Facilitating Token Swaps

KNC is the primary medium of exchange used to facilitate token swaps on the Kyber Network. When a user initiates a token swap, they pay a transaction fee in KNC, which is distributed to liquidity providers and reserve managers as a reward for contributing their tokens to the network.

2. Governance Token

KNC holders have governance rights over the Kyber Network. They can participate in decision-making processes and vote on proposals that shape the future of the network, such as upgrades, fee adjustments, and new token listings.

3. Staking Rewards

KNC holders can stake their tokens to earn rewards. By staking their KNC, users can contribute to the security and stability of the Kyber Network and receive a portion of the transaction fees generated on the platform.

4. Market Making Rewards

KNC incentives market makers to provide liquidity to the Kyber Network. Market makers who stake KNC receive rewards proportional to the volume of trades they execute, encouraging them to maintain a high level of liquidity on the platform.

5. Network Fee Generation

A portion of the transaction fees collected by the Kyber Network is used to purchase and burn KNC, creating a deflationary mechanism that increases the scarcity of the token over time.

6. Price Stability

KNC plays a crucial role in stabilizing the price of tokens traded on the Kyber Network. When the price of a token becomes volatile, the Kyber Network protocol uses KNC to buy and sell the token in order to maintain a stable price.

7. Token Economics

The total supply of KNC is capped at 226,000,000 tokens. Of this supply, approximately 67% is currently in circulation. The remaining KNC is held by the Kyber Network team and reserve managers for future development and ecosystem growth.
