Who Created XRP?

XRP is a digital asset created by Jed McCaleb and Chris Larsen in 2012. McCaleb and Larsen are both computer scientists and entrepreneurs who had previously worked together on the file-sharing platform eDonkey.

  1. Jed McCaleb (born May 9, 1975) is an American programmer, entrepreneur, and angel investor who is best known as one of the founders and former CTO of Stellar and OpenCoin (now Ripple). He is also the founder of the decentralized exchange, StellarX.
  2. Chris Larsen (born October 16, 1960) is an American entrepreneur and investor who is best known as one of the founders and former CEO of Ripple. He is also the founder of the nonprofit organization, Rippleworks.

McCaleb and Larsen founded Ripple in 2012 with the goal of creating a new payment system that would be faster, more efficient, and more cost-effective than traditional methods. The XRP token is used to facilitate transactions on the Ripple network, and it is currently the third-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
