How to transfer funds to KuCoin Futures account?
To trade futures on KuCoin, manually transfer funds from your Spot Wallet to your Futures Wallet—this free, instant process requires 2FA and ensures proper asset selection like USDT.
Jul 24, 2025 at 04:00 am

Understanding KuCoin Futures Account Structure
KuCoin operates a segregated account system, meaning your spot wallet and futures wallet are separate. Funds must be manually transferred between them. This design enhances security and allows users to manage risk exposure independently. Before initiating a transfer, ensure your KuCoin account is verified and you have funds in your spot wallet or an external wallet. The transfer process is internal to KuCoin and does not involve blockchain transactions or fees when moving between spot and futures.
Accessing the Transfer Interface
To begin the transfer, log in to your KuCoin account via the web platform or mobile app. Navigate to the top-right corner and click on your wallet balance. A dropdown menu will appear—select “Transfer” from the options. This action opens the transfer interface where you can specify the source (e.g., Spot Wallet) and destination (e.g., Futures Wallet). Make sure you are on the correct trading page—KuCoin Futures has its own dedicated section, often labeled under “Futures” in the main navigation bar.
Selecting Assets for Transfer
Once in the transfer panel, choose the asset you want to move. KuCoin supports multiple cryptocurrencies for futures trading, including USDT, BTC, ETH, and more. Click the dropdown under “From” and select “Spot Wallet.” Under “To,” choose “Futures Wallet.” Then, select the specific coin from the asset list. For example, if you want to transfer USDT, make sure USDT is selected as the asset, not another token. The interface will display your available balance in the spot wallet for that asset.
Entering the Transfer Amount
Input the amount you wish to transfer into the futures account. Be precise—entering too much or too little can impact your trading strategy. KuCoin does not impose a minimum transfer amount for internal transfers, but you must have a positive balance in your spot wallet. After entering the amount, review the details carefully:
- Source: Spot Wallet
- Destination: Futures Wallet
- Asset: e.g., USDT
- Amount: e.g., 100
If two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled—which it should be—you’ll be prompted to enter your Google Authenticator code or SMS code before proceeding. This step is critical for account security and cannot be skipped.
Confirming the Transfer
Click the “Confirm” button after entering the 2FA code. The system will process the request instantly. You should see a success message like “Transfer successful.” To verify the funds have arrived: - Go to the Futures trading page
- Click on your balance display (usually top-right)
- Select “Futures Wallet”
- Locate the asset you transferred (e.g., USDT Futures Wallet balance should now reflect the added amount)
No blockchain confirmation is needed because this is an internal KuCoin operation. The entire process typically takes less than 10 seconds.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If the transfer fails or the funds don’t appear: - Ensure you selected the correct asset—transferring BTC to a USDT futures position won’t work unless you convert it within the futures wallet
- Check if your account is locked due to suspicious activity—review email/SMS for alerts
- Confirm 2FA was entered correctly—mistyped codes cause failed transfers
- Clear browser cache or restart the app if the UI doesn’t refresh automatically
If none of these resolve the issue, contact KuCoin support directly through the in-app chat or support.kucoin.com. Provide your UID, transaction time, and asset type for faster resolution.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I transfer funds directly from an external wallet (like MetaMask) to KuCoin Futures?
No. You must first send funds to your KuCoin Spot Wallet, then manually transfer them to the Futures Wallet via the internal transfer function. Direct external transfers to the futures wallet are not supported. Is there a fee for transferring funds between Spot and Futures on KuCoin?
No. Internal transfers between your own KuCoin Spot and Futures wallets are completely free. Fees only apply when depositing from external wallets or withdrawing to external addresses. Why can’t I see my transferred funds in the Futures Wallet?
Double-check that you selected the correct asset and that the transfer was confirmed. If the balance still doesn’t update, refresh the page or log out and back in. Some users miss that USDT and BTC futures balances are listed separately—even if you transferred USDT, it won’t appear under BTC futures. Can I transfer funds from Futures back to Spot?
Yes. The process is identical—you just reverse the direction by selecting “Futures Wallet” as the source and “Spot Wallet” as the destination. This flexibility allows you to move funds freely based on your trading needs.
