How to scan a QR code to pay with Trust Wallet? (Mobile Payments)
To send crypto via QR code in Trust Wallet: open the app, tap Scan, grant camera access, scan the merchant’s code, verify address/token/amount, adjust gas, and confirm securely.

Accessing the QR Code Scanner
1. Open the Trust Wallet application on your mobile device.
2. Tap the Scan icon located in the top-right corner of the wallet’s main interface.
3. Grant camera permissions if prompted for the first time — this is required to activate the scanner.
4. Ensure ambient lighting is sufficient and hold your device steady while positioning the QR code within the frame.
5. The scanner automatically detects and decodes the QR code once it appears fully inside the scanning area.
Understanding QR Code Structure for Payments
1. Payment QR codes generated by merchants contain encoded data such as the recipient’s wallet address, token type (e.g., ETH, BNB, USDT), and optionally, a predefined amount or memo field.
2. Trust Wallet validates the network compatibility before proceeding — for example, a BSC-based USDT address will not be accepted when the active network is Ethereum Mainnet.
3. If the QR code includes an amount, it populates the transaction screen automatically; otherwise, you must manually enter the value to send.
4. The token symbol displayed after scanning must match the asset you intend to use — mismatched tokens may result in irreversible loss.
5. Trust Wallet does not alter or interpret memo fields beyond displaying them — users are responsible for verifying memo accuracy with the payee.
Initiating the Transaction
1. After successful scanning, the app navigates to the transaction confirmation screen showing recipient address, selected token, and amount.
2. Review all fields carefully — especially the recipient address, which cannot be edited post-scan without restarting.
3. Adjust gas fee settings if needed: choose between Standard, Fast, or Custom depending on network congestion and urgency.
4. Tap Send to proceed — this triggers the wallet’s internal signing process using your private key stored locally.
5. Confirm the transaction with your wallet passcode, biometric authentication, or hardware wallet prompt if enabled.
Post-Transaction Verification
1. A success notification appears immediately after signature submission, along with a transaction hash (TXID).
2. Tap the TXID to open the transaction details page on the corresponding blockchain explorer (e.g., Etherscan for Ethereum, BscScan for BSC).
3. Monitor confirmations — most services consider payments final after 12–30 block confirmations depending on chain consensus rules.
4. Check your wallet balance update — delays may occur due to node synchronization speed or token contract logic.
5. Save or screenshot the TXID for record-keeping — Trust Wallet does not store payment memos or merchant names associated with QR scans.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I scan a QR code that requests multiple tokens at once?A: No. Trust Wallet only processes one token per QR code. Multi-token requests require separate scans or manual construction via dApp integration.
Q: What happens if I scan a QR code with an invalid checksum address?A: Trust Wallet rejects it instantly with an error message stating “Invalid address” — no transaction is drafted.
Q: Does Trust Wallet support scanning dynamic QR codes that change values based on time or usage?A: Yes, but only if the encoded URI follows EIP-681 or similar standards. Time-based changes do not affect validity unless the underlying address or parameters expire externally.
Q: Is it safe to scan QR codes from untrusted websites or messaging apps?A: Not recommended. Malicious actors can embed fake addresses or redirect to phishing dApps. Always verify the decoded address visually before confirming.
