Finding Your Liquidation Price on OKX

Trading with leverage on OKX requires a clear understanding of your liquidation price. This value determines the point at which your position will be automatically closed to prevent further losses. Knowing how to locate this critical figure helps traders manage risk effectively and avoid unexpected closures of their positions.

Accessing the Futures Trading Interface

1. Log in to your OKX account and navigate to the Futures section.

2. Select the specific contract you are trading, such as BTC-USD-SWAP or ETH-USD-SWAP.

3. Once the trading interface loads, locate the active position panel, typically displayed at the bottom of the screen.

4. This panel includes key metrics like entry price, leverage, margin, and current profit and loss.

5. The liquidation price is clearly labeled and updated in real time based on market conditions and your margin balance.

Understanding the Liquidation Price Display

1. The liquidation price is shown directly in the position information box.

2. For long positions, the liquidation price appears below the current market price.

3. For short positions, it appears above the current market price.

4. The system calculates this value using your maintenance margin, leverage, and unrealized P&L.

5. If the mark price reaches your liquidation price, the position will be force-closed.

Factors That Influence Liquidation Price

1. Leverage level directly affects your liquidation threshold.

2. Higher leverage reduces the buffer between entry and liquidation price.

3. Adding or reducing margin manually adjusts the liquidation price.

4. Funding rate payments and fees slightly shift the liquidation point over time.

5. Market volatility can cause rapid changes, especially during high-impact news events.

FAQs

What is the difference between mark price and last traded price in liquidation calculations?OKX uses the mark price, not the last traded price, to determine liquidation. The mark price is a fair value estimate based on underlying index prices and funding rates, preventing manipulation and ensuring stability during volatile conditions.

Can I receive a notification before my position gets liquidated?Yes. OKX offers margin call alerts and liquidation warnings through email and in-app notifications. Users can set up these alerts in the settings menu under “Price Alerts” or “Risk Management.”

Why did my position get liquidated even when the market price didn’t reach my liquidation price? This typically occurs because liquidation is based on the mark price, which may differ from the last traded price. If the mark price hits your liquidation level, the system will close the position regardless of the order book price.

How can I adjust my liquidation price after opening a position? You can modify your liquidation price by increasing your margin. Navigate to the position panel, select “Add Margin,” and transfer additional funds. This action improves your buffer and pushes the liquidation price further from the current market level.
