To close a position on a contract on Gate.io, navigate to the Position Page, determine the order type, enter the order parameters, review and submit the order, track the order status, and manage open positions.
Nov 17, 2024 at 06:48 am
- Log in to your Gate.io account.
- Hover your mouse over "Derivatives" in the top menu bar and select "All Contracts" from the dropdown menu.
- On the "Contracts List" page, locate the contract you want to close a position on and click on it.
- On the "Contract Details" page, scroll to the "Positions" section and select the position you want to close.
- There are two main order types for closing a position: "Limit Order" and "Market Order."
- Limit Order: Allows you to specify the price at which you want to close the position. Use a limit order if you want to control the execution price and prevent slippage.
- Market Order: Closes the position at the prevailing market price. Use a market order if you want to execute the order quickly and do not care about the execution price.
- For a Limit Order:
- Enter the desired price for the order.
- Enter the quantity of contracts you want to close.
- Set the order type as "Limit."
- For a Market Order:
- Enter the quantity of contracts you want to close.
- Set the order type as "Market."
- Once you have entered all the necessary parameters, click on the "Create" button to submit the order.
- Gate.io will display a confirmation dialog. Review the order details carefully before confirming.
- Click on the "Confirm" button to submit the order.
- After submitting the order, you can track its status on the "Open Orders" page.
- Limit orders may take some time to fill depending on market conditions. Market orders will be executed immediately at the prevailing market price.
- Once the order is filled, the position will be closed and the resulting profit or loss will be reflected in your account balance.
- To manage existing open positions, navigate to the "My Positions" tab on the "Contracts List" page.
- Here, you can view all your open positions, including their entry price, size, and current market value.
- You can also modify or close open positions directly from this page.
