How to close a contract account at Gate.io How to open
To speculate on future asset prices with leverage, traders can open a contract account on Gate.io using USDT-M Perpetual or other desired contract types.

A contract account on Gate.io is a segregated account specifically designed for futures trading. Futures contracts allow traders to speculate on the future price of an asset without actually owning it. Contract accounts provide traders with access to leverage, which can amplify both profits and losses.
Step 2: Opening a Contract AccountTo open a contract account on Gate.io, follow these steps:
- Log into your Gate.io account and navigate to the "Derivatives" tab.
- Click on "Open Contract Account" and select the desired contract type (e.g., USDT-M Perpetual).
- Review and agree to the Terms of Service and Risk Disclosure.
- Click on "Open Account" to complete the process.
After opening a contract account, you will need to fund it with cryptocurrencies. To do this:
- Navigate to the "Balances" page and select the "Deposit" option.
- Choose the desired cryptocurrency and generate a deposit address.
- Transfer funds from your external wallet to the generated deposit address.
To close a contract account, follow these steps:
- Transfer all open positions to a different contract account or close them by executing opposing orders.
- Withdraw any remaining balance to your external wallet.
- Navigate to the "Contract" page and click on "Close Account."
- Enter your account password and click on "Confirm" to complete the process.
If you wish to open a new contract account after closing the previous one, follow the steps outlined in Step 2. Note that you can only have one active contract account at a time.
