How to check funding rate on Binance Futures?
Binance funding rates—viewable via web, app, or API—update every minute, settle every 4 hours, and reflect real-time long/short payment flows across USDT-margined perpetual contracts.
Jun 26, 2026 at 03:20 pm
Web Interface Navigation
1. Visit binance.com and log in to your account using valid credentials.
2. Navigate to the Derivatives section and select USDT-Margined Futures from the dropdown menu.
3. Locate the target trading pair such as BTCUSDT or SOLUSDT in the contract list.
4. On the right-hand side of the trading interface, identify the funding rate field displayed prominently in the information panel.
5. Click the question mark icon adjacent to the funding rate value to access historical settlement records and a visual trend chart.
Mobile Application Access
1. Launch the official Binance mobile application and complete biometric or password authentication.
2. Tap the Trade tab at the bottom navigation bar and select Contracts.
3. Search for the desired symbol—for example, SOLUSDT—and enter its dedicated trading page.
4. The current funding rate appears near the top of the screen alongside the next settlement countdown timer.
5. Scroll down to the Contract Information section to view the funding rate calculation methodology and regulatory boundaries.
API Data Retrieval
1. Refer to Binance’s official developer documentation for USDⓈ-M perpetual contract endpoints.
2. Construct an HTTP GET request targeting fapi.binance.com/fapi/v1/fundingRate with appropriate query parameters.
3. Include the symbol parameter (e.g., symbol=SOLUSDT) and optionally set limit to retrieve up to 10 most recent entries.
4. Parse the JSON response to extract the fundingRate and fundingTime fields for precise timing and value alignment.
5. Observe rate limiting constraints: no more than 60 calls per minute per IP address are permitted for this endpoint.
Funding Rate Interpretation
1. A positive percentage indicates long positions pay short positions; a negative value means shorts compensate longs.
2. Values are updated every minute on the UI but settle every four hours under normal market conditions.
3. The green upward arrow signifies increasing magnitude relative to prior readings; red downward arrow signals contraction.
4. Settlement occurs automatically at fixed intervals without manual intervention—no action is required from users.
5. Funding rates serve as a mechanism to anchor perpetual contract prices to spot indices through periodic monetary transfers between counterparties.
Aggregated Market Comparison
1. Access Binance’s dedicated funding rate aggregation page via the Derivatives dashboard or direct URL navigation.
2. This view displays real-time funding rates across all supported USDT-margined perpetual contracts simultaneously.
3. Color-coded heat mapping highlights extremes: deep green denotes strongly negative rates; vivid red reflects sharply positive values.
4. Sorting functionality allows filtering by absolute value, symbol name, or settlement proximity to prioritize high-impact instruments.
5. Cross-asset analysis helps detect anomalies—such as unusually elevated SOLUSDT funding amid declining BTCUSDT—indicating potential divergence or manipulation signals.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does Binance apply different funding rate formulas for COIN-M and USDT-M contracts?A: Yes. USDT-M contracts use a blended index price and interest rate differential model, while COIN-M contracts rely solely on a premium index derived from spot exchange feeds.
Q: Can funding rate data be exported in CSV format directly from Binance?A: No. Binance does not provide native CSV export for funding rate history; users must manually record values or build custom scripts using the API.
Q: What happens if my position is closed before the funding settlement timestamp?A: Funding payments are calculated based on open position size at the exact moment of settlement; closing beforehand excludes you from that cycle’s transfer.
Q: Is there a minimum position size required to receive or pay funding?A: No threshold exists. Any non-zero position—regardless of size—is subject to funding calculations proportional to its notional value at settlement time.
