How to use Bitget copy trading for crypto contracts? (Social trading)
Bitget’s copy trading lets followers auto-replicate leaders’ contract positions in real time—adjusting for margin, leverage, and risk—while enforcing strict KYC, dynamic controls, and transparent fees.

Understanding Bitget Copy Trading Mechanics
1. Bitget copy trading allows users to automatically replicate the positions of experienced traders in real time. This functionality is built directly into Bitget’s unified trading interface, supporting both USDT-margined and coin-margined perpetual contracts.
2. Traders who open positions on Bitget’s contract market can opt to become “leaders” if they meet specific eligibility criteria: minimum 30 days of active trading history, at least 50 closed orders, and a positive PnL ratio above 60% over the past 90 days.
3. Followers do not manually enter or exit trades. Instead, their accounts execute matching orders based on the leader’s entry price, leverage setting, and position size—adjusted proportionally to the follower’s available margin.
4. The system applies dynamic risk controls: if a leader closes a position, all linked followers close theirs simultaneously. Partial closures by leaders trigger proportional reductions across follower portfolios.
5. Fees are structured as a one-time 0.5% deduction from the follower’s initial copied position value—not charged per trade or on PnL.
Setting Up a Copy Trading Account
1. Users must complete KYC Level 2 verification before accessing copy trading features. This includes submitting government-issued ID, facial verification, and proof of address.
2. A minimum balance of $100 in USDT or BTC is required in the contract wallet to initiate copying. Funds must reside in the “USDT-Margined Futures” or “Coin-Margined Futures” sub-wallet—not in spot or funding accounts.
3. Followers select leaders via the “Copy Trading” tab, filtering by metrics such as win rate, max drawdown, average holding time, and total copied users. Leader profiles display live equity curves and historical order logs.
4. Allocation settings let users assign percentages of available margin to individual leaders. Multiple leaders can be followed simultaneously, with each allocation operating independently.
5. Leverage used in copied positions defaults to the follower’s current account leverage setting—not the leader’s. This allows customization without exposing users to unintended risk amplification.
Managing Risk in Contract Copying
1. Stop-loss and take-profit parameters are not inherited from leaders. Followers must configure these manually for each copied strategy using Bitget’s advanced order panel before activation.
2. Margin calls occur at the follower’s individual level. If equity falls below maintenance margin due to adverse price movement, the system liquidates positions—even if the leader remains solvent.
3. Leaders may adjust leverage mid-trade. Followers are unaffected by such changes unless they manually update their own leverage settings for future entries.
4. Copying pauses automatically during scheduled platform maintenance or when a leader’s account triggers Bitget’s internal risk engine (e.g., repeated margin calls within 24 hours).
5. Historical performance data shown on leader pages excludes simulated or paper-trading results. Only live, settled contract orders executed on Bitget’s matching engine are included.
Tracking Performance and Adjusting Strategy
1. The “My Copies” dashboard displays real-time PnL for each active leader, showing cumulative profit/loss, number of copied orders, and average slippage per execution.
2. Followers receive push notifications for every new position opened by a leader—including asset pair, direction, entry price, and size—delivered via Bitget’s mobile app and web interface.
3. Equity curves are rendered using tick-level price data synced with Bitget’s depth-of-book feed, ensuring accuracy against actual fill prices rather than index or mark prices.
4. Users can terminate copying at any moment. Open positions remain active until closed manually or by market conditions; no forced liquidation occurs upon unsubscription.
5. Daily settlement reports include breakdowns by symbol, fee accruals, funding payments received or paid, and unrealized PnL—all exportable as CSV files.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I copy trade using leverage higher than my account’s maximum allowed leverage? No. Bitget enforces strict adherence to your configured leverage cap. If your account limit is 20x, copied positions will never exceed that—even if the leader uses 50x.
Q: Are copied positions visible in my order history?Yes. Each replicated trade appears in the “Order History” tab with a “Copied” label, including timestamp, order ID, and source leader’s username.
Q: Does Bitget guarantee profits or compensate for losses in copy trading? No. Bitget explicitly states that copy trading involves substantial risk. All outcomes depend entirely on market behavior and individual risk management choices.
Q: Can I copy trade during weekends or holidays?Yes. Bitget’s contract markets operate 24/7, and copy trading functions continuously without interruption—subject only to standard platform uptime and network stability.
