WAXP is the native token for the Worldwide Asset eXchange (WAX) blockchain, a specialized blockchain platform for trading virtual items, such as gaming items, digital collectibles, and other digital assets.

Issuance:
- The total supply of WAXP is 1 billion tokens.
- The issuance schedule is as follows:
  - 2017: 40% of the supply (400 million WAXP) distributed in a token sale.
  - 2018: 10% of the supply (100 million WAXP) released in quarterly allotments.
  - 2019-2020: The remaining 50% of the supply (500 million WAXP) distributed as rewards to block producers and stakers.
Circulation:
- As of February 2023, the circulating supply of WAXP is approximately 450 million tokens. This represents about 45% of the total supply.
- The majority of the circulating supply is held by users who have purchased WAXP on exchanges, earned it through staking, or used it to pay transaction fees on the WAX blockchain.
