Who is the Founder of NEO Coin?
NEO, formerly known as Antshares, is a decentralized, open-source blockchain platform designed to build and deploy Smart Contracts and Distributed Applications (dApps). It was founded in 2014 by Da Hongfei, Erik Zhang, and other contributors within the Chinese blockchain community.
Da Hongfei
- Core Developer of Onchain
- Founder of NEO Council
- Introduced blockchain technology to China
Erik Zhang
- Software engineer
- Core Developer of Onchain
- Active member of the NEO ecosystem
Founding of NEO
In 2014, Da Hongfei and Erik Zhang recognized the potential of blockchain technology and saw an opportunity to establish a platform that would empower developers to create and deploy Smart Contracts and dApps. This vision led to the founding of Onchain, a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of blockchain technology.
Initial Coin Offering (ICO)
In 2016, Onchain launched an ICO for Antshares (ANS), the predecessor to NEO. The ICO raised approximately $15 million, which was used to fund the development of the NEO platform.
Rebranding
In 2017, Antshares underwent a rebranding and was renamed NEO. This change marked a shift in the platform's focus towards Smart Contract and dApp development.
NEO 2.0
In September 2017, NEO released NEO 2.0, a major platform update that introduced a range of new features and optimizations. These included the introduction of the Neo Virtual Machine (NeoVM), which enabled Smart Contract execution, and the integration of a dBFT consensus algorithm to enhance security and scalability.
NEO3
In September 2020, NEO 3.0 was officially launched. This significant update introduced a new architecture, a more efficient consensus mechanism (dBFT 2.0), a comprehensive governance model, and enhanced performance and security features.
NEO's Mission
NEO's mission is to build a Smart Contract platform that is secure, scalable, and developer-friendly. The platform is designed to provide a comprehensive set of tools and services to empower developers to create and deploy innovative decentralized applications.
NEO's Team
NEO's team comprises a diverse group of blockchain professionals with a proven track record. The team includes core developers, researchers, engineers, and ecosystem managers who are committed to the development and growth of the NEO platform.
NEO's Ecosystem
NEO has fostered a thriving ecosystem of developers, partners, and community members. The ecosystem includes a wide range of Smart Contracts, dApps, and tools that have been developed on the NEO platform.
