Arbitrum Coin (ARB) is the native token of the Arbitrum network, an Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution. It serves several purposes, including network governance, fee payments, and staking.
1. Total Supply:The total supply of Arbitrum Coin is 4,073,090,000 ARB, with an initial circulating supply of 697,227,552 ARB. The total supply is fixed and cannot be increased, ensuring the token's scarcity over time.
2. Token Distribution:The Arbitrum Coin distribution plan is designed to incentivize participation in the network while ensuring decentralization. The initial distribution breakdown is as follows:
- 15% to the Arbitrum Foundation
- 22% to core developers
- 3% to early contributors
- 60% reserved for future growth and incentives
The circulating supply of Arbitrum Coin represents the amount of ARB in active circulation, excluding tokens held by the Arbitrum Foundation, core developers, early contributors, and other reserved accounts. The circulating supply fluctuates based on the issuance and burning of tokens.
4. Fee Structure:Users pay transaction fees in ARB on the Arbitrum network. These fees cover the computational costs associated with processing transactions and maintaining the network. The fees are distributed among Arbitrum sequencers, nodes that validate transactions and produce blocks.
5. Staking:ARB holders can stake their tokens to participate in network governance and earn rewards. Staked tokens are used to select Arbitrum validators, who are responsible for verifying and ordering transactions. Stakers receive rewards proportional to their stake and the amount of time they keep their tokens staked.
6. Governance:Arbitrum Coin holders have the right to participate in the governance of the network. They can propose and vote on protocol updates, such as changes to transaction fees, staking rewards, and the overall direction of the Arbitrum ecosystem.
