What is Arweave?
Arweave is a decentralized storage network that aims to provide permanent and reliable storage for data in a decentralized manner. It uses a novel blockchain-based architecture to ensure the integrity and persistence of stored data, making it suitable for archiving important documents, websites, and other digital assets that require long-term preservation.
How does Arweave work?
Arweave's architecture consists of the following key components:
- Data Weavers: Miners (individuals or entities) who provide storage capacity on the network and receive rewards for storing data.
- Data Requests: Clients who want to store or retrieve data from the network.
- Blockweave: A unique blockchain structure that maintains a permanent record of every data transaction and its associated metadata, including proofs of storage and retrieval.
To store data on Arweave, clients interact with the network through a decentralized application (dApp) or an API. The data is then broken down into small fragments and distributed across multiple Data Weavers for redundancy and durability. Each fragment is cryptographically hashed and linked to a unique block in the Blockweave.
